Does this price sound right to have a BBK installed.

Hi guys,

Just wanted to get the collective opinion on this price, I spoke with Vic at Simone Performance was quoted $520 + tax to install the OEM brembo BBK on all 4 wheels, plus the installation of longer wheel studs and spacers. I was told that this was pretty much an all day job. I called the dealer and they wanted $630+tax
Does this price sound reasonable, or can anyone recommend any other place to have this work done. To me the only thing that would be complex or a pain to do, is removing or trimming the dust shield and possibly replacing the wheel studs. But the rest look like it should just bolt right up?

Thanks,

*****,

Vic is an honest guy and knows his stuff. I'm sure his price is very competetive.

Did you upgrade your calipers with the Stoptech Stage 2 upgrade or stcik with the stock calipers? I know they do not come with upgraded calipers in their kit.

It is just labour, I have all the parts the calipers, lines, pads rotors and brake fluid. I have change my pads before and they weren't hard, if anything just more frustrating and time consuming. As some bolts were rusted on thanks to the Canadian winters with the salt on the roads. However, I have never changed brake lines and bled my brakes. Trimming the dust shield sounds like a pain in the butt, as does replacing the wheel studs. So for something like this I rather have someone with the right tools and experience do it. Got another quote from Neetronics and it was about the same. I got a great deal when I first had my springs and stoptech stage two installed but too bad the shop is now closed
Looks like I'll probably end up giving Vic a call back.

when are you going in? i'm going this saturday, just to replace my rotors with stoptech oem replacements........ labor is about $100 but obviously a lot less work then the BBK, i'm surprised BBK labor is that much but it sounds like a lot of work.

There's a DIY on installing BBK somewhere here or my350z.com, you can just use that.
As for wheel studs on spacers, front's are easy, but rear's can be a pita...

DIY > $500+ down the drain

I put in my kit myself. It's really not that difficult to do. Cutting the rotor gaurds on the rear were a small pain, but not that bad. Other than that, I don't think you need a whole lot of skill to install it. DIY all the way.

+1

If you have the tools DIY is the best way. I did ask around a bit with mine and local AZ prices were ~$200-250 to install my kit (4 pot 13" front and oem calper 13" rotor rear).

This is Canadian dollars, and it seems like we tend to get screwed for pricinging on pretty much everything up here. Knowing my car, everything turns out to be more difficult to do than anyone elses car. As the example of changing my brake pads as I mentioned above and even installing the HKS muffler. I could only get one of the bolts off the oem muffler, after playing around with it for about 2hours, lots of PB liquid wrench, and numerous tries with my air wrench. I ended up taking to the dealer. I was all up for DIY stuff, I bought all the impact sockets, air tools etc, but sometimes I rather let someone else deal with the frustration.

Thanks again for suggestions guys

^ I know what you mean. You have to be a hardcore DIY guy to do some of this stuff especially when rust starts to enter the equation.

Hey Bro,
let me give you my 2 cents, Vic's price might not be the most competitive (personal experience from having used a few different shops for my aftermarket and general maintenance stuff), however, I still keep on going back because his people are guys that I can trust and I don't have to think twice about whether they did everything properly or not.

You also have to realize that his people are ex-master techs or techs from Nissan dealerships
