New Inifiniti dealer in Richmond BC - Comedians

i phoned Autowest (in Richmond Automall) yesterday to inquire into costs for a manual transmission fluid change. changing the fluid in a manual is as simple as draining the old fluid out and putting new fluid in. no filters or pan gaskets etc...

they quoted me $140 for a "standard" fluid replacement. this is with the oem fluid - not synthetic. then the service advisor tried to sell me on the "premium" manual tranny service that includes "a complete flush and interior detailing of the transmission, as well as fluid replacement"!!! i love it! "...interior detailing of the transmission..."? "what exactly does that entail?", i asked. she was unable to elaborate further. this service cost $250.

needless to say i hung up the phone laughing. then i went down the street to the Pennzoil shop on Garden City and Alderbridge Way and had the fluid replaced with Pennzoil Synthetic GL-4 75W90 for $59.95. in and out in 10 minutes with far superior tranny fluid.

yet another instance of a stealership trying to bend over unsuspecting owners...

LOL, that's a good one. Interior detailing of the manual transmission.

Good decision on finding a better alternative.

It was an "interior tranny detail". Maybe they have some kind of swiffer duster they when they open up the tranny.
