Pressure Washers
I am thinking about purchasing a pressure washer for my father for Xmas. I currently own a Simoniz 1900 and it's been working fine..........however this is my third Simoniz pressure washer as the previous two were 1800s and died. So, I am quite reluctant to buy him a Simoniz.
Has anyone had good luck with Karcher, or any other brand?

I am headed across the border in a couple of weeks so I am hoping to find a good deal on one there. Ian, it looks like those Campbell Hausfeld (which is a brand that I am unfamiliar with) is available at Home Depot and Walmart. I'll check those two places when I head to the States.
As long as the Engines are japanese made, I think you shouldn't have a problem. I say get one w/ a Honda engine as well & you should be fine.
DeWalt makes good power tools, and their pressure washers use Honda engines as well.

Depends what he'll use it for, too. I bought a Karcher at Costco a few years ago and while it worked okay, I really wanted to be able to wash my two-storey house with it. For that it was useless; I could pee higher than that thing could spray. But for regular car-washing or other close-up cleaning jobs I guess it was okay. I finally sold it in a garage sale in disgust. Campbell-Hausfield is a respected name in the compressor biz, that's probably a good one to look for.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. My sister and mother want to go in on the purchase as well, so we'll be able to get him a really good one. My Father won't be using it all that much, just to wash the house, etc. I am wondering if an electric one like mine would be sufficient or if a gas powered would really be needed.

I love my gas one. Unlike most people on here I have only a lowly plebian one from Sears, with onyl 6.5hp and 2800 psi. When i bought it 4 years ago it that was a solid .5 horse and 3-400 psi better the other residential models out there. There is more choices now but it works well and consistently for me. And yes i have ventilated a pair of sneakers with it.
