I sympathize with your snowblower woes...I had one like that. One snowy day I pulled and pulled on that rope to start it and it would NOT go. Finally I yanked it really hard and the handle and half the rope came off in my hand! I threw that sumbeech so hard it still may not have landed yet. I gave the damn SB to my dad, who got it running and uses it happily all the time. Now I use a shovel, it's very dependable. Actually my SON uses the shovel, he has been the man, shoveling snow these past couple weeks.

Not too snowy here, just a bit cold. Be careful out there, gents.

 

yes yes of course snows r better LOL everyone knows that, but some people do say brand new all seasons will do the trick at least until the next winter. driving safely of course.

I'm running stock tires still..they're performing really well. I really can't imagine if I had Snow Tires! This car rocks.

 

thats what I thought no fancy driving just slow and easy, should be ok for new all seasons.. next year prob good idea to change.

 

Ugh, that sucks Ian. So did you get your snow blower started yet?

 

Yeah, it's been awhile since we've had a storm this big. Like I said, I highly doubt that we got 30cms of snow the entire winter last year. The snow blower sure came in handy this morning. Typically I would work from home on a day like this but I am in meetings most of the week doing year end reviews. I had to get up bright and early and get the driveway done so I could get to the office.

 

Just know that you won't have any where near the braking and cornering ability with your AS tires. That is where winter tires are worth your weight and gold. I personally wouldn't risk smashing up my G or potentially hurting myself running AS tires......but that's just me.

I always manage to get mine going and complete service in early November to be ready. G/L getting yours going. Mine is a 10.5 Tecumseh too and no issues to date.

15 cms today (and in Winnipeg, no road clean up till the next day), sucks I just washed my car last night haha. Wouldve have taken pictures but my camera kinda froze in my car... I was lucky I didn't crash though, I did end up rubbing the passenger door along a snow bank, it was too dark to see if any damage occured.

 

Excellent. I've done it a few times myself with a chain saw and lawn mower but it's been a llong time. I guess you had a lot of gum and varnish then.

 

Thats where running a good stabilizer through it and keeping it in the gas really help especially before storage.

I learned that the hard way. Now doing it seems to keep things running smooth and the spring and fall start ups easy.

 

Had a little varnish... but also crappy sediment in the bowl.

For storage....
I had a small engine guy tell me that he preferred to drain the system. (gas)
Then pull the plug & give it a shot of oil.
Draining the system helps the fuel lines last longer & the oil helps to keep the piston (&rings)free.

We had such little snow last year... I think I only used it a couple of times all season.
For me I think it was an moment......
We just slid into spring & I didn't do the normal routine.
