Never been caught with it yet (knock on wood) but I only use it at night on the highway. I turn it off in the city plus I have the conceal display in the ashtray so that it does not look like is on.
Is it useful yes, safed my *** 2 times already but you really need to be aware of your surroundings (meaning you need to know if the place you travel tends to have cops) otherwise I would not recommend you getting it. If you get caught you get a nice $150 ticket and the radar taken away. Please note the V1 is not a laser jammer or anything.

I could be wrong. I was talking to a neighbour that had a Tunerworks plate frame. He bought parts there but the install was done elsewhere. He led me to beleive that they don't do the work there.Originally Posted by Hoaxer

I cant say for sure either but in the spring I got a quote for an APS TT kit and they did quote an install price. I later talked with a guy that had work done by them and he had "issues" with the work when he took it back to TW they said they source out thier work. Maybe they had too many problems and quite doing that??? Anyway they did carry several good product lines at TW but again I have been happy with Lightspeed Innovations in RedDeerOriginally Posted by wgmg35

i'd probably say it has a lot to do with disposable income, which canadians generally have less of than americans, especially in quebec, with the taxes and what not.
add in that the cars cost more, the parts cost more, and there's not as much experience, it's not a conductive environment for modding.
and i suppose it's also market demographic, i'm actually waiting at the dealership for some work to get done, and i think there's only one other guy under 40 here, not your usual "modders".

Don't go Super Charged please you will hav e nothing but issues. Read the forums about the S/C setup from Vortech.
I have found a local shop to do all my major mods. EX-Inifinti mechanic.
THey did a great job on the car. However they did not tune it for me and that is where i am having issues.
My mod list is about 3 pages now and most of them I had no issues.
I buy alot form the US and almost nothing from canada so far.
PM me if you want the info of that shop in calgary

I haven't been to Tunerworks in ages! The last time I was there the botched my exhaust install...and it was on a civic...how hard could it be?! Then again, that WAS like 6 years ago. Maybe I should give them another chance.
I'm getting prepped for the Vortech in the summer. Trying to actually source out a shop in Washington to do the work. Only 1100km drive to a shop that has been installing Superchargers since 1975. :-D Road trip baby, road trip!
I just got my RacingBrake BBK's installed. Black calipers, looks like stock...just the way I like it.
Working on a custom dual-dual tip (quad tip I guess?) exhaust. Found some nice cannisters that are super thin so going to try to build a heatshield below the fuel vaporizer to allow the new cannister on the passenger side.
Getting all the stuff done in the summer as right now the g's fully winterized for our fine weather here. Raised back on stock springs and winter tires on stock 17's. Looks like any other base G on the block...keeps the boys in blue at bay. ;-)

Whoa whoa whoa, hold on just a sec...I'm under...WELL under 40. :-D 25 actually. But unfortunately, I do have to agree. Most of the people I see on the streets driving the g are older businessmen that are probably only interested in the value that the g offers as an luxury sedan.Originally Posted by pjames

Stupid taxes! End of the day, even with all my tax evasion tactics ;-) I'm still paying like 30% taxes on my income. Oh what I could do with another 20g's a year...the possibilities...

Actually, from what I've read so far, the issue that's been plaguing the vortech's has been a faulty bearing by another manufacturer. Vortech has reportedly discontinued use of that company's components and are using new ones. (and even providing an extra 2 years of warranty) A lot of people are reporting very good experiences with the newer batch of superchargers from Vortech. I'd love to go with the twin-turbo, but I'm just not sure the extra 100hp is worth the reportedly extra $4000 to $5000 by quotes I've received. Also, because I have an 5AT, the cost associated with upgrading the transmission to be able to hold that power jumps from $1000 to nearly $4000. So basically, it'll cost me an extra 7 grand for the 100hp...kinda out of my budget range.Originally Posted by Sinister350GT

Guys, stop with the stereotyping of people over 40 who own G's! Mine isn't completely stock and I'm well over 40.
pjames, I pretty much agree with what you said about modding although US folks on average don't really make much more than Canadians. It's just that the population is so much larger so it is a lot bigger market of mod consumers. As well here in Canada I think weather plays a factor with performance, wheel, tire and suspension mods here in the GWN.

i'm not saying that people over 40 don't mod, just aren't the usual suspects, in fact, they are probably the ones most able to, families are older, have generally more disposable income, and given today's generation, had been hot-rodding or building bikes in their youth and look to recapture some of that...

I was trying to figure out how to make this turbo fit though...

is that actually a turbo or just a big centrifugal pump? looks almost exactly like a huge version of one of our single-stage pump bodies...

Ahahaha! Priceless! ...and if you live in a snow covered location, yes winter tires count! I don't know how I'd drive in Calgary without winter tires. My foot is just too heavy.Originally Posted by interalian

What qualifies as modded? Seems I see plenty of non-stock G's around Toronto?
Hey, too little is better than too much. I'm just glad it's not a tasteless ricer fest.
