You only loose $ when you sell. As you said, it's a great car. Enjoy it and stop thinking about the rest of it.

Bought my G for $60,000 after taxes on the dot in June 2005. It's probably only worth like $25,000 now. I have almost 100,000KMs. That's with me not driving in the winter too.

Nice, betcha it's mostly hiway. Really eats up the road.
Leased mine in 04 for 3 years with 45 000Km at $35 000 based value $5000 down and $18 000 buyback. 128 000 km. I figure it's worth 5 bucks every time I floor it on the 401 to leave idiots behind me.

you need to give it time. i don't know if the g35 is one of "those" cars, but i will tell you i owned both a 93 rx7 and 94 twin turbo supra (both bought used). the supra was almost two years old with 12k miles, purchased for $24,700. i sold it two years later for $20,500. the rx7 was almost 4 years old and i picked it up for $21,000 and sold it a year and a half later for $18,500. if i had kept both, i would own two classics that would only appreciate in value.

i guess what i'm saying is that there is always depreciation while the car is being produced, but those cars that are destined to be classics stop losing value and start appreciating years after they are out of production.

I traded in my 04 coupe a few weeks back with 44,xxx miles on it. The dealer wanted to give me 15,500 for it but after about an hour of haggling I got them to give me 17,750. It sucks when 2 years ago I bought it for $28,000 and at the time the coupe was supposed to be one of the cars that retained the most value

Dammit dude. I really don't want to think how much my car is worth. An 03 for 32k 5 months ago... I have checked the black book value and the worth of my car is only 19k (same thing told me the car was worth 29k when I bought my car). Not to mention my car is an American car as well...

I also enjoy that I don't see a G so often on the streets; but seeing how much my friends and other teenagers like the G35 so much; and the falling price it is only a matter of time they will trade up their RSX/Civics and get a G/Z. Then you will have G35s with aluminum benches, GTR stickers, Canadian tire glow in the dark windshield wipers . I was supposed to be selling this car this spring; if I am losing 33% in 8 months; it will just be cheaper to keep this car then doing anything else and try to get the most out of it or store it.

i bought mine new 2 weeks ago...

paid $50G's for the my 08 G35X. Will it be worth **** in a couple years? sure. Myself, I'm 26 and drove enough used ****boxes that were either beaten to hell, abused, not rust proofed, in an accident, etc. If you don't plan to sell it, who cares?

I'm through with "Sloppy Seconds"(or thirds or fourths) and truly enjoyed poppin' my G's cherry.

But regardless, a car never holds it value (unless it's rare). A guy at work bought a 4 yr old M3 BMW convertable with 50,000kms for $60G's, a car that ranges the $120,000mark new. It's not the colour he likes or the options he wanted. Myself, I got what I wanted.
