Sport and Auto Together? Not without AWD.

So it's finally time to upgrade my 2004 G, and I'm considering getting an 08 sedan. I stopped into the dealer today and learned that I can't get an auto sport without getting the AWD

Why would Infiniti do this? Not that the AWD will hurt per say, but I was hoping to go staggered with my rims

Oh well, I took it out and it drove very well. It's not quite as smooth as the 335i and IS350 that I also drove, but it's WAY better value.

In case anyone is interested, the Lexus was the prettiest (subjective) and the most comfortable. The 335i was clearly the fastest and the best handler. The G was somewhere in between (better interior than the 335i and more/equally sporty to the IS350.

I haven't been on the site for a while, so I'm off to do some research to figure out what aftermarket parts on my old G will fit my new G (if any).

Thanks for the update and opinion. I like where you rank the G.

Unless Infiniti changed it for 08, you can definitely get a non AWD Sport in a 5AT.

EDIT: I just check infiniti.ca and it appears you are correct. I had no idea. That's a strange move by Infiniti.

In the US they can order a G35 Journey 5AT with the sport package, I wonder why Canadians don't get that option.

Even with the Journey and Sport packages, you still don't get the larger brakes and VLSD. I am glad I got an 07!

The dealer did mention that the 2WD sport auto was an option in 07, but for 08, Infiniti decided (in their infinite wisdom ) that this combination was going away.

I'm slightly jealous of your 07

VSLD and larger brakes are both a part of the journey sport package according to infiniti.com. Sorry to spoil it for you Shane.

Yeah, I figured that out after. Infiniti.com is a little misleading.
