probably around 24k private sale... 21k and less for trade-in

i traded in my 2005 6-speed with 40k and i got 28k$ for it. that was after haggling with them. many dealers only wanted to give me 21.5k$ the trader was showing them going at 31-35k$ for private sale.

i've seen used G's popping up all over dealer lots... i'm sure that's one of the reason's why the trade-ins are so cheap. look at trader.ca .. the selection is huge. good luck.

Accords have come a long way, you're definitely on the right track if you want a reliable car. I went with my brother to pick up our 08 accord v6 fully loaded. It's pretty well equiped (except xenons). Good value. And I go for private sell if you don't mind the hassle.

sounds like a good deal for trade in, dont forget guys you save on tax with trade in, the dealer should only be taxing you on the difference of your trade in and purchase.

100% of what salesmen say is BS - always. That's the number 1 rule. As 04 for 9K? Maybe if by mint he means totaled/salvage/cut in half and stapled back together, I can see it.

I don't doubt they'll try to take you on a trade in, that's a given with any trade in. I myself certainly wouldn't part with my G for 11K. Personally, I'd walk away from the deal and let them sweat for awhile.

Asking prices in Alberta are still in the low 20's for private sales. No idea if people are selling them since I'm not marketing my G and don't plan to.

Good luck, hope it works out for you.

You will NEVER get what your car is worth on a "trade in". It's just that simple. You MUST sell it yourself. I was going to trade in my 2002 Chevy 4 dr PU on the G and they said $9800, me say "no way!" they say "way".

So I say "order it, I'll sell it me self!" Well it took 2 and a half months (three months for the G to get here) and I got $14000 for it.

^I've traded one in about 6 years ago. I did equal to what I could have in a private sale situation and gained after saving the tax on trade value. To this day the sales manager I was dealing with still grumbles over that deal. LOL

I have traded a couple of other cars in as well about 3 years ago but they were actually convenience deals. I made the deal privately and then had the buyer buy the vehicle from the dealer so I captured the trade in value tax reduction.

u have to remember that dealer's mostly purchase used cars from auctions. cars go dirt cheap there.

Yeah, the taxes are the hidden element in the deal & has to be factored if selling private.

Excellent...
That's great if you can do it that way.
