Exclamation Buying a USED G35: Infiniti vs. Independents

hey everyone,
thought I'd make my first post after months of just lurking and reading

after a year of waiting and finally being able to afford one, i'm jumping into getting a G35 coupe within the next month or so. Most likely a 2004/2005 model.

What I can't understand is how Independents are selling used G35's for $20k-$24k whereas Infiniti sells off-leased coupes from $24k-$28k and they're relatively the same in terms of mileage/packages.

Does Infiniti sell these vehicles to smaller dealerships at a lower price????? Am I safe going to Independents to save like $3000 or is something fishy going on??? I can easily do a history check on any car to find out if they were in accidents, etc....

what's the catch?????? Anyone have any insight into this???

Probably bought off a dealer auction which they can get alot cheaper; probably American ontop of it too. Since the other dealers cant offer you Infiniti Extended warranty, are not actually an Infiniti dealer; they need to price it lower to entice people to purchase from them. Alot of vehicles Infiniti dealer's sell also come from auto auctions.

Some people will pay the extra 4k to get a piece of mind they bought it from Infiniti versus an independent dealership. I would run a BBB check on the dealership, get the car inspected by your own mechanic, and run a carfax check. If the car checks out; I think you will be fine. Not much difference between a good G35C on an Infiniti lot versus an G35C on a Joe Used Cars lot.

As far as the car is concerned, probably not much difference. Check with your bank though, because some banks will finance cars from franchised dealerships only, and not ones from the independent shops....

it's an infiniti dealership.. what did u expect? they'll give u a trade-in value of $20k and then sell it for $32k. the only benefit of going to infiniti is, i'm assuming, they'll throw in some sort of warranty because it's a certified blah blah.

That's my understanding. I bought mine from a Toyota dealer who bought it at auction; previous owner was in Ontario (I'm in Alberta). Definitely do your homework regarding the carfax and everything.
