diamond gloss
diamond gloss
My beautiful beast has finally arrived, and I couldn't be happier. As everyone knows, the car is absolutely beautiful, and incredibly fun to drive. The addiction to conquor the break in began immediately and I managed to put on 1600km in six days. Well, now I'm up to almost 2500 and lovin' it! Anyways, my question concerns peoples opinions of diamond kote, or Ziebarts diamond gloss. Do you recommend it? Is it possible to fill paint chips that happened before the diamond gloss was applied? Finally, is the "wet" look and ease of cleaning really that good, and what is your experience with waxing afterwards? Thanks.

Paint Sealant
Diamond Kote and Diamond Gloss are basically paint sealants, just like the stuff dealers try to add on to the sale.
If you enjoy washing/waxing, and want to save money, you can do better by applying sealant yourself. There are all sorts of sealants -- some are called polymer waxes, others synthetics, etc... Examples of highly recommended/long-lasting polymer sealants include Zaino and Klasse.
There are many good sealants, and I don't think one is absolutely better than the rest; some last longer than others, some cover up flaws better than others. Sealants last longer than regular carnuaba wax, but all sealants must be reapplied periodically (including Diamond Gloss/Kote, etc..). You could also just use regular carnuaba wax, but then you'd need to wax frequently as regular wax does not last long.
If you would rather do something else with your time than wash/polish/wax, then by all means get Diamond Kote, Diamond Gloss, or have a professional detail apply a sealant for you, and reapply periodically.
If you have chips, you should fix them first, before applying a sealant.
