Jay Leno test drives the new Tesla Roadster.

I thought is was really interesting. I've been hearing so much about this car but never had anyones real opinion on it, until now. Jay Leno's reviews of his cars are actually really impressive because of how much detail he goes into. Considering it's his cars, he knows every about nook-and-cranny (sp?).

I know this car has had its share of technical problems with the transmission and all especially, but which car doesn't during development? Regardless, this car is really impressive and truly shows what the future might bring us.

Can we say goodbye to the combustion engine?

Anyways, have a watch because its good.

Great vid. Thanks for sharing that. With time, greater public interest and demand . . . Hopefully, we'll see a model for the everyday consumer.

For those that would like to read up on the Tesla, here is a Car and Driver article.

That car is pretty cool. I didn't realize the acceleration of something like that would be so good.

Thats the big thing with electric motors.... instant peak torque.
It must be a weird sensation.

0-60 = 3.9 with the 2 speed transmission, 5.7 with single speed.

Very cool car. The only real limitation is the range and that "away" charge rate of 33 hours.

Our local carting place had gas go carts and switched to electric a few years ago. The difference with the instant torque and the eerie silence was amazing.

Apparently it's also speed limited to 125 mph which seems a little... constrictive (for the track, of course).

125 will do me just fine. It would also do fine for our track here. I only got up to about 150km/hour on our short twisty track here at Shubenacadie.

^+1 ...most tracks no problem
Tracks with longer straights would leave you sucking wind though.
e.g. I was hitting 200+kph at Mosport last year which would be ***** out in this beastie.
