Question Where to buy tires?

Looking to replace my summer stock Potenza RE 050's on my '03 coupe with 18's.

With the Cdn dollar, I've been looking online, tirerack.com seems to be the best so far. Is it worth it to buy online, and get them installed cross-border? Would be just over an hour drive goind this route, from Ottawa.

I'm looking to get the Goodyear F1 a/s in stock sizing. Looking for a tire for summe only use as I have winters, good tread wear, quiet, good traction wet and dry and good cornering. As long as they are a little better than stock, I'd be happy.

Thanks!!

Tirerack is the best option IMHO for us Canucks... I've bought a set of winter wheels and blizzaks from them so far and had them shipped and am looking at a set of new rear summer tires soon from there.

If I lived close enough to the border, I'd surely get them installed and drive em across. I have Kumho ecsta spt ultra high performance summers and love em. They are on tire rack for $158ea for 275/40zr18's for the 2 rears. If you are going to spend in the range of $200, check the Pirelli's out also I'd say they are very nice.

But anyway what I did was go 275/40zr18's in the rear, you won't regret how much nicer it looks over stocks trust me. The fronts are also like 100$ stock size.

Edge Racing has amazing deals on tires.

255/40R18
Falken Azenis Rt615 - $150
Toyo Proxes T1r - $172

http://www.edgeracing.com

I will be replacing my summer tires and ordering them from the states and having them installed there as well. It costs so much less across the border.

Actually i dont think so, what i plan to do is ship to my friends shop in buffallo where i will have it installed. No duties, no taxes, no nothing. Just the cost of the tires.

It was just over 200$ for 4 wheels mounted on tires with shipping/customs/taxes all in one. I'm not sure what customs alone was. But thats also going from South Bend, Indiana to Sask.

Damn it.

I thought we were gonna get some local feedback.

They have the best prices for hi-po tires. But I haven't seen anything online about anybody local who has had something from them shipped here. I suppose there always places like USAddressinc.

Tire Rack all the way! I don't think I'll ever buy wheels and tires anywhere else. I've bought 4 sets of tires and/or rims from them with ZERO problems. Their delivery is amazing! (4 days on a set of 20's mounted/balanced and TPMS sensors installed) And I've yet to find a local shop that can get me a better price on the merchandise. Especially now they include all the duties and customs before hand (which still comes out cheaper than the local guys here in cow town) it's all the more easier! I also like my dealership (I know, I'm insane, I've been told many times ) and they treat me well. They usually installs the stuff for me for free and I ship the tires to them directly. Since it's a business address it's also cheaper on shipping. Plus and Plus!

Yeeep - tire rack is the real deal. I have the tires/rims either shipped to Ogdensburg NY or Malone NY and have them installed down there. I would avoid having them ship to Canada as they will still charge you the UPS brokerage fees in addition to the duty and taxes. If you go across the border and bring them back, 9 times out of ten (and actually 6 out of 6 times for me personally) they never charge you anything but GST and PST. Just show up with your reciept from Tire Rack.

Not if your going down there to play golf and you bring your clubs ...

I declared when I had to buy rims and tires. I had tirerack mount and balance them. Obviously I was brining back tires and rims so I wouldn't even try to hid it. I know lots of people who just drive down, get new tires put on and then drive home.

You have tire rack or whatever shop ship back the old ones to your house and and drive your new ones back. Declare the old wheels/tires $100 each and pay tax and duties on those. I'd personally NEVER do anything like that.
