We won a cup without Gretzky, Fuhr (for the playoffs), or Coffey. We could do it even though we lost 3 hall of fame players. Could the Flames? Gretzky never won a cup without the support he had in Edmonton. We were a much deeper team than just Gretzky. Oh and Kurri was the perennial Oilers playoff scoring leader, not Gretzky.

On a side note, I am not sure I'll ever again witness a hockey team that was so dominate and exciting to watch as the Oilers were in the 80s.

You are right on that point... However I am exited to see just how good the kids make us in 2-3 years along with our stud defencemen Chorney and Petry when they join the already good young guys we have.
