Yeah, I'd say that as well, except the clear coat and/or paint on my '99 toyota truck is splitting apart from the inside (hundreds on tiny little *'s of paint cracks close up). I've only worked on it by hand, and only several times with a PC. Anyhow, I was just curious if you felt like you really had to get down on it pretty good to clean it up. It ended up looking fantastic.

I certainly had to work hard to get the paint back to near factory finish . This was probably the hardest customer job I've experienced so far......but also probably the most rewarding.

wow Shane. That looks absolutely amazing. My car isn't that bad, but it is in pretty bad shape. This is finally motivating me to do something about it.

I'm guessing maybe 4 microns, or .15 mil tops. On most of the Infiniti's I've measured from new I get over 200 microns of paint. So ya, not much. For example.

to this:

was a mere 3.5 microns

Nice work Shane. That thing was messed yp to start. :O

Thanks Kevin. Good info for those of us not ready to invest $500 or so to be able to measure.

I only really use my ptg on older cars or cars where I know extensive buffing or respraying has been done. It takes a lot of time to use properly, so only really worth it if you're hitting a lot of classics or cars with questionably thin paint.
