Switching back to summer tires.

Hey guys, how many of you have already switched to your summer wheel/tires? anyways, i tried to switch them in my driveway today, however, i cannot remove the wheel lock on the winter wheel because it has special patterns on it. I went to canadian tire to see if i can find any handles that can remove it but the guy there says i have to go back to where i buy it to get it remove, it's like a key for that wheel or something. Does that mean i have to goto the wheel storeand pay to switch my wheels everytime then? Have anyone experience this? btw, i have 17s eagle six spoke, i'll call Jerry on monday to see what's happening.

Re: Switching back to summer tires.

You should have the key for whichever security nuts you have on your wheels in case of repair, or wheel change etc.
Here's a pics of both my wheel nuts and keys - summer on the right, and winter on the left.
Be sure when you find the key(s) to carry it with you onboard for wheel changes.

Humm... i found the wheel key for winter, which is the one you have for your summer. If i remember right, i didn't think there was a security nut for the 18 oems, i never saw those flower pattern nuts on the summer wheels. But i may be wrong. So i guess those nuts are from my winter are the same one to use on my summer wheels, basically i should just use the same nuts from the winter wheels and then put it on the summer wheels, is that correct? However, i cannot find that long black wheel key you have and i think i do need that for the 4 other wheel nuts (not the one with security) Here is what i found with the key:

Neohh, What you've got there in your pic is the 'key' (socket) you need to remove the 4 special 'nuts' (one on each wheel).
The other is just a regular nut used on the other 4 studs.
Those are used with the summer wheels.

In my picture, the long socket and nut on the left is what I use with my winter Enkei wheels only.
The other is the same socket key that you have. (used for my summer OEM wheels)

I don't know what winter wheels you have. The summer lug nuts and security nuts may not fit properly.
I had to have a different set of nuts and key for my winter set because the oem's wouldn't fit the Enkei's properly.

Re: Switching back to summer tires.

Yep, those are the OEM nuts and the OEM special locking nut. I also used the same OEM nuts on my winter wheels (Ronal).

The OEM nuts may be too wide to fit on some after-market wheels. If the OEM nuts were too big, then you'd need "thinner" nuts (with a different special key for the locking nut).
