Double Din Questions

Hi folks
I know search is your friend but sometimes there is too much info.
Did anyone around the GTA ever get a double Din setup for their car?
My board is on the fritz and I am thinking it might be better to get an aftermarket unit with the kit.
Quick question though, if I get an aftermarket unit with the HVAC controls, how does it work with the board. I know that the system now has the HVAC controls and radio on the same board. When you convert, is there another board to run the HVAC controls. This is rather new to me, I am just starting to research.
I just know that my current board is toast, air conditioning goes up and down by itself and there are no lights on the HVAC or stereo.
A little maddening. If anyone had it done in the GTA, that would be greatly appreciated.
Any advice on a system would be a plus as well.
Thanks in advance folks.
Have a great weekend, raining here in Kingston

Hey Matt,

https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-video-electronics/224099-reason-why-you-need-jdm-ac-controller.html

Whats your budget for a new system?

There are certain parts that you will require such as a PAC controler if you want to keep the controls on your steering wheel.

Hi there
I was looking at about $1000 total installed, I saw a double din on sale at future sfop for $479. Can it be done for a G note?
I am just thinking it might be a better option than replacing the board. I looked at buying a used one but who knows when that might go. Kind of frustrating.
I live in Kingston, so I am a little far from you guys but would like to attend a meet or mini meet this summer.
Matt

if you want my honest opinion is never get anything done from futureshop or best buy. go to a good audio shop, you can pick up the parts you need wherever but install it from a good audio shop.

Yeah, I wouldn't get it done there, I was just looking for the deck and then I was going to have a good audio shop install, I don't want any problems with my car.
I will pay to make it is done right.

Another question, sorry.
Does the double din kit come with the A/C control board or do I buy that separately?
The Future Shop has this deck on sale, reviews look pretty good.

Well, I did the deal. I bought the Pioneer AVH P4000 today and ordered the double din kit from Metra. Bought the steering wheel interface and the Ipod jack.
Setting up an appt for next week to get it installed. (Made sure the guy has worked on a G before).
I will put some pictures up when it is done.
Finally I will be able to get the demons out of the HVAC. It was so embarrassing the other day because I was talking to someone in a parking lot and I actually had to turn the car off because the air was running full blast and I couldn't hear the guy talk. Brutal!
Can't wait to get this installed!
