GT500 going for MSRP in Toronto now

Hey guys,

I just wanted to let you know, I got a call from my Ford dealership salesman, and he said he had 5 GT500's on the lot, and he won't mark them up. He's charging MSRP (mid $50's I think for the GT500). I saw him last year when I needed a new ride and wanted the car but walked away when they were charging 25K+ markup.

I thought I'd let everyone know, in case there were a few enthusiasts on the board that was waiting to pick one up. I'm bringing the wife in on the weekend to check it out. It's probably going to be a 'no' though... I gave got rid of my Avalon, and so the next vehicle probably *has* to be a big four door or wagon, according to her.

We saw this coming. With gas prices, etc, there is no way that the prices of these cars were going to remain that high with the mark-up, considering what else it can buy (C6 Vette, even a Z06 from the USA).

That's a good price, Link, from the comparo I read recently in M/Trend.

The GT500 is still a beast and priced much better than the slightly faster and quicker KR.

Would be a nice second car 'toy' if one could swing it.....

Good luck with wifey....Be sure and let her drive it too.....She may be tempted.....

Let us know how that goes and your impressions too...

Colin

We should stop complaining about gas prices as it is far more expensive in Europe and some parts of Asia. I'm very happy with the gas prices right now, which is why I wouldn't mind DD a GT500

Very true but our economy (and our pocketbook) is based on much cheaper gas/oil and we've been so spoiled with cheaper oil for so long, the changover is going to hurt badly.

I guess it could be worse, and I'm sure we're all hoping it doesn't get worse.

LOL, indeed a GT500 would look good in our garage even not being driven that much.
As a DD, I'd say not so practical for me.

The dealership I just got my Tl from has a Black GT500 with the graphite color stripes sitting on their lot for sale. 08 with 1,300 miles, and they are asking $45,000. what a deallllllll... Just wish teachers got paid more...

The guy had bought the GT500 new. He is a coal miner, and his new girlfriend didn't like the car, so he is selling it...

You guys should get a head start on getting used to expensive gas prices. We'll catch up to Europe's gas prices by 2010... I'm already starting to not look at the price when I fill up. I just swipe my credit card and pay attention to something else besides the numbers

There's a white one with red stripes in my neighbourhood. The guy drives like kind of a d1ckhead, but I might too with all that power. Nice car.

I shared a little track space with one at Mosport last year.... they sure can rip it on the straights.
I'd catch him on the twisty bits though.

I took back my G, the woman has my old Lincoln. hehehe. I don't think she's too happy about that. But in a few months, there's going to be so many cool cars coming out, I didn't want to commit to something.
