Winter Mats

With my first winter as a G ownder just around the corner, trying to be proactive before we get blasted with the wet white stuff. I've got the original carpeted mats in my car and looking to get either rubber replacements or ones that go right on top of the carpeted ones. I've got the willow (tan) interior.

Any recommendations??

But don't put them on top of the other ones.

I just use my carpet mats, but I've heard a lot of great things about Weathertech mats. http://www.weathertech.com/store/mvp...=807&Year=2004

Ditto what GEE35X and InTgr8r said. The OE ones are the way to go. I have the willow all season mats myself and bought them from the US. They weren't even available in Canada at the time.

Don't put them over top of the carpeted ones. I've experienced a full throttle stuck gas pedal as a result. Not fun.

^^ That reminds me of driving my dad's '66 Baracuda, but that wasn't caused by the mats. Scary experience none the less.

I used the WeatherTech floor mats and cargo liner in my G and I was pretty happy with them. It sucks that there is such a price differential between the US site and the Canadian site but brokerage charges would probably do away with any savings even if you could order them from the states.

I was on a lower speed twisty road "playing". I had to immediately turn off the key.

10-4 on the OEM's. Don't skimp on the mats, you'll be glad you didn't.
Non OEM's may move and get stuck in the peddles as RBull and others (me too) have experienced.
Also putting them on top of other mats is a bad idea for the same reason.

As Garnet Canuck has suggested, the WeatherTechs may also be good since they duplicate the OEM's but I'd want to be sure that they can be fixed to the clips in the floor just as the OEM's do.

Good idea to get some early and be prepared for the nasty stuff. (UGGGG)
Snow tires for those who need them should also be thought of soon.

My weather tech mats didn't come with holes punched for the floor hooks, but that was easy enough to solve with a sharp knife.

It's hard to believe that the summer has already come and gone. I'm already shopping around to see if I can beat tire rack's prices locally for my winter tires.
