yeah, I was dreaming (or had bad light) when I thought the clay had done anything for the scratches, they were still there. NOW, however, they are mostly gone! Spent about 4 hours on this yesterday and the results so far are very good. The swirls are gone from my sail panels but I think I may have to hit the hood once more now that I've gotten the hang of the machine. i went with orange pads right off the bat since that's the most aggressive i bought; I think I could have actually used a tad more cut, either with a more aggressive pad or polish. Mehh, maybe in the spring I'll get som SIP. for now, I think I'll finish up with a seal/glaze today and maybe on Monday a carnauba wax.

I may get some pics up later today, I've taken lots, but not sure they show much until I download them from the camera and get a look at them.

Okay, here goes. As I mentioned, I started by claying the car. No change in paint other than making it smooth and contaminant-free. As you can see, still lots of scratches and swirls in my hood, and other places.

Next, I taped it up to keep from scuffing the tails, heads and trim.

Would you let THIS guy loose with a power tool near YOUR car??

I did the roof first, so if I messed up, it wouldn't be as noticable. That's where I learned a bit about how much product to use, how fast to go, and when to stop. spent about an hour on that, just 'cause of my newbitude.

So after doing the whole car with menz IP (P0106ff), and following up with Mother's Sealant/Glaze (I'll get some REAL product in the spring), here are the results.

While I wasn't able to eliminate all the scratches (I didn't expect to), I'm very happy with the vast improvement I've gotten. and now I know she's all sealed up for winter. Who's next??

Very nice job, Wayne.

Mine's been neglected badly - do you have pick up and drop off service?

I noticed that the rafters in your garage are holding up just as much crap as mine. I've got 4 full sets of tires up there along with everyting else.

Awesome work Wayne, your EM Sedan looks fantastic. Something tells me that not only are you ecstatic with the results you received from your PC, but you will now be an official detailing geek.

Outstanding work Wayne.
I wasn't as brave as you when my PC was new.
I practiced on my wife's car.....
& took all all the score points that went with it.

Looks fabulous Wayne. Great to see you join the club and post up your glamour shots!

BTW, your home is lovely. The added touches like the turret bump outs, glass in the stairway area, bay windows etc on 2 story craftsman style add a lot of charm and character.

Thanks, Deane, your turn now. We love our house, it's certainly not your typical Calgary front-garage unit. Of course our 8 year old Princess lives in the highest room of the tallest tower (front centre).

Craig, yes, the garage rafters are a crap catch-all. Maybe next year I'll finish it inside and make some proper storage; I have enough room between the rafters and the roof to make a whole 'nother level of garage!!

^not so sure I'm going to get my car detailed before it goes under cover in another month or so. I'll probably wait 'til spring.

Sure thing, when I'm done you'll find it parked outside Barbarella's.
