so, for a while now i have been casually snooping the local used-G market. i have had my '04 6mt for a little less then 2 years and i love it. i have done some mild mods (as in my sig) and enjoy the sound and performance with the 6 speed sedan format. my car currently has 70k kms on it and i recently had the tranny/clutch replaced under warranty.
while i love my G and have no urgent motivation to trade up, there are some things i prefer about the '05-'06 6MT sedans. namely the exterior styling and sport wheel package with the 18's. the 298hp engine is a bonus, assuming no oil consumption is occuring.
there are a couple 6mt G's in the local market right now:
1. 2006 gray/black 6mt, 40k kms, full load except nav at ~$30k.
2. 2005 gray/black 6mt, 70k kms, with nav at ~$25k.
are the upgrades in the 05/06 sedan worth trading in my solid, well maintained (no surprises) G? or do i stay the course and wait until closer to the expiry date of my powertrain warranty (another 1.5 years)? at that time i would probably go with another model of car since an '06 would be out of bumper-bumper warranty and i do not like the look of the 07+ sedans.

I would stay with your 04 since you know the car and you have it set up nice. You can always pick up a set of sedan sport 18s (thats what I did when I had my 05X).
You only have 70,000 kms on it so why pay more for an 05 with the same mileage.
There are a few nice changes on the 05/06 but I think your car is a keeper.

Wise words, Wayne.
I just bought a 2005 6 MT IP Sedan and love it. Although I was a former 2004 6MT Sedan owner, I owned a Z in between. The only thing that bothered me about the 2004 sedan wasn't the lower power rating compared to the 2005/2006's but that the bottom of the front bumper and the side sills didn't match the body paint. Kinda like the early 2000's when Audi A4's had black side sills that didn't match the body paint. So yes, I love the new styling on the 2005 Sedan.
That being said, keep the sedan you already have and if you like the styling of the 2005's that much more, you can always just by a full NISMO kit which in my opinion looks even nicer than the stock 2005/2006 look.
As for the 298 hp in the 2005 vs the 260 in the 2004 - I don't really even notice a difference.
Stick with your car, which you know inside out, and buy the NISMO aero kit and you're all set.

The 298 hp engine won't be much different than what you have because the torque on both engines is virtually the same and that's what you feel more than a peeky horsepower #...
Good suggestions to put your money into a kit and wheels.....
Colin.
Yeah, make that another vote for staying where you are. Your car doesn't have a lot of kms and it doesn't seem worth it to me to upgrade a years or two. you can get 18" wheels etc for much less than the upgrade cost.
Re the '07+. If you haven't driven one you should. There is a significant jump in refinement and some more power too.

add one more to above... all good points.
A few minor tweeks to keep your interest & hang onto her.
& in a couple of years the 2nd gen will be available at a good value

RBull - to be fair, i haven't driven the 07+ sedan and i suppose i should before settling against it. like i said, i am not a fan of the styling and i believe the sedan packed on some weight as it progressed. does the extra power more than compensate the additional weight?
my '04 weighed exactly 3600lbs with me (~195lbs) and a 1/2 tank of gas when i weighed it at a local drag strip this summer. this was when i blew away my buddy in his 350Z, which brings the "260" hp rating of the 04 6mt sedan back into question...

It's well accepted the 260 hp was under rated. It's the same engine and tuning as the 280hp version.

i agree with most of the wise words here... it'll be cheaper to upgrade the cosmetics on ur current G.. plus you know it's been very well maintained...
and i will have to concur that the experience I had driving the 2nd gen G sedan. Everytime i get into the 2nd gen, it makes me want to trade up

canucklehead give Mmagic76 a PM and check with him. He painted his sills and rear valence and he ordered a new Nismo front end from the US this year, he resides in Ontario. His Ivory Pearl sedan looks great.
You can also PM G-MAN (CANADA), he purchased a used Nismo front end and painted his sills on his Brilliant Silver sedan. Sweet ride, now rolling on 20's .
I know either one of these guys would be glad to answer any questions for you.

I think you can still purchase NISMO kits from Everything G35 (although I just tried visiting their website http://www.everythingg35.com/ and the site currently seems to be down) which I believe is an Infiniti dealership located in Arizona (I could be wrong). I purchased a set of lowering springs from them (dealt with a fellow named Justin) and the product arrived fairly quickly.
Im in the same boat as you (03 Coupe w/ 60K) -Interior is LACKING!
if you plan on keeping the car +2 years MOD it
If you plan on upgrading soon dont bother modding, save your $

i looked at everythingg35 and they have the Nismo kit for ~$2300. i'll snoop around the used market for a while.
i figure to upgrade to a newer model i'd be looking at $2-$5k, depending on how motivated the seller is and assuming i could get low $20's for mine. certain models are holding their value here in the lower mainland, unlike most markets in the US.
