hullio, is your school still shut down??? I heard on the news tonight they are still on strike at York.
Will your year will be wasted because of this? Just not right that students get penalized .

^50,000 students, did not have school today. I recall the news saying that they will resume negotiation talks, but I did not check later on to see if there was any agreement met.

This is turning out really bad, a majority of my friends goes to york and some had plans to fast track during the summer, now chances of that happening slim to none. There's also an issue with OSAP for some of them, as they were not aware that OSAP would take their money back when the tuition has been paid for already.

Honestly, they are already the highest paid in Ontario, and what is this strike for again? They make more than majority of torontonians for christ sake! $400 a week and 10 hours a week? BS.

Well folks, I don't think I'm ever going back to University. I'm starting to forget my very own class schedule. 5,000 students were let back in starting today, but the rest of us 45,000 students still have to suffer. This is ridiculous! I don't want to ever face this dilemma ever again...but next year all the Universities across Ontario are planning on striking. Hmm..here we go again?

And I was really looking forward in getting a job in the summertime, but I have no idea how long this will push into.

^ I heard on the radio that a class action lawsuit is taking form.
There has to be a lot of students that this has hit very hard, besides the lost time.

hullio, everytime I read about this, it infuriates me that they are jepordizing the education of thousands of students for their own greed

I have been wondering what your next option will be. I sympathize with you my young friend.

i think no matter which side in every situation its about greed!
i used to live in quebec remember one of the university's students went on strike for so long they actually didnt attend any classes and even try to stop the students who wanted to get in to classes. i dont know if you know quebec has the cheapest tuition in Canada.

ex: finance degree - courses 250 bucks each for quebec residents
1500 for international students.

imagine the international students fee are almost in the same level here with Canadian residents in Ontario. and Quebecers still complained.in each situation (teachers/students), people are greedy.

Yes, there's a class action suit being taking by Juroviesky and Ricci LLP. I might sign up: http://www.yorktookmymoney.com/.

Thanks W. I was wanting to transfer somewhere else, but my mom kept on telling me not to because there are thousands of other students in the same position as me. She had a point.

Hang in there Hullio. It probably makes sense to join that class action suit.

As far as the strike is concerned, If I was a student I wouldn't worry too much about it. I mean what's the big rush? You're young, take this extra free time you have right now that would otherwise be spent with your head buried in a bunch of books, and enjoy your life. Do whatever makes you happy, it's not like the strike will last forever. I understand there may be some students who may be hurting financially because of the strike, and for those people I sympathize. Hopefully everyone gets a refund.

^ yes, but I'm sure there are still a lot of unresolved issues, that will continue to cause grief for many students.

But, yes... at least the can begin to get things back in order.
