Bartering skills - what is a good deal on G35x
Bartering skills - what is a good deal on G35x
I was dealing on 2004 G35x and I think my bartering skills are slipping. The list price for the car is $44,800 + shipping ($1200) + setup ($250) + taxes. The best price that I could get was not to pay the shipping and setup. Paying the base price + taxes does not seem like much of a deal.
I would really appreciate your comments on what I should expect to pay. At this time, I will probably wait for the 2005 version of the car but I would sure like to be able to get a better deal than what I was quoted.

You should be able to do much better than that.
I got mine 2 weeks ago for $3K off list with no dickering at all.
I e-mailed three dealers informing them that I was getting 3 quotes; best 1 gets the deal. Presto!

Re: Bartering skills - what is a good deal on G35x
I just picked up a G35X premium 3 weeks ago, out the door for $50,335 + cost of new plates. I showed them the quote from Cars4u.com and had them match it, that will hopefully get you some leverage in your negotiations.

Thanks for the info and the link to cars4u.com An interesting site. It looks like I should be able to get 2600-3000 off on 2004.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

What you need to do is bargain from invoice price up. Most dealers will sell you a vehicle from 500 to $1500 over invoice.
You can pick up a invoice price list from CarCostCanada.
Great place to actually know what the car cost the dealer.
Granted the invoice price doesn't compensate for the dealer's bonus from the factory, but that's there business.
I've used printouts from CarCostCanada for ALL vehicle purchases and have had great suscess buying $5-700 over invoice, everytime. The only one I never had any luck with was the G35, as it was too new and had to pay MSRP.
Once the dealer knows that you know what it actually cost them, they are unable to bullshit and hoodwink because they know if they do ...... your going to the next dealer to ask the same question: How much do you sell this car over invoice?
