Perspective on Canada in troubled times

^In the long term that could be true. They really don't have any other options with many of their largest banks on the brink. However one needs to consider that those other countries governments will in time try and divest themselves of those "investments".
In the meantime Canada has an advantage now because of our tighter governance and stronger balance sheets. Right now our banks have large amounts of money pouring into them from wealthy world tycoons looking for "safe havens".
CDN banks have been hammered on the market and there's been a lot of speculation even in the US they will be leading indicators of improvements in the CDN economy. The TSX has never performed well without the financials being very strong. TD earnings were out yesterday, RBC and CIBC today with others to follow

^I'm sure the CDN banks' results were a source of envy from other countries. Not overly impressive but in the black.
I believe the disadvantage stated from nationalizing banks in other countries to Canada is the access to cash. Much better off with investor's cash in any case.
