Ontario Drivers License Question ?
Ontario Drivers License Question ?
Okay, So I am familiar with the older Ontario issued drivers licenses... In which they had the "red bar with 4 white circles", which meant you could be driving with person who has their beginners permit... My question is, on the new Ontario issued licenses, how is this known?
thank---you!!! when i get mine in the mail i will have to check it out, i think i just came up on my four years! now i can let the girlfriend drive me around... obviously not in the coupe though hahah
... thats a good one, but sadly she needs to get her G1 first... do any of you "mature" g35 drivers allow your kids with G1, G2s to get behind the wheel of your G?

Of course. It's a car, not the space shuttle.
You know you guys got me thinking and I never figured it out...
What were those 4 circles for? you said to allow someone with a G1 beginners permit to drive the car. So the question really I have is...
Why 4 circles, what's up with 4?

each dot represents at least 1 full year of driving experience. so if u have 2 dots for example... then u obviously have only had your license for 2 full years. if u have 4 dots then u have completed a minimum of 4 years of driving.
Well, whaddaya know? I just pulled out my own license and discovered that I have a class "GM" (car & motorcycle). I had no idea I was licensed for motorcycle in Ontario.
It looks like it must have automatically carried over from Saskatchewan where I was licensed for motorcycle until I left in 1981. I thought I had given it up when I didn't request a motorcycle license in Manitoba (I was told that I'd have to be retested). Similarly, I didn't raise the question with the MTO when I came to Ontario 20 years ago, but there it is anyway.
No plans to buy a bike, but you never know when it could come in handy. Maybe I'll just tease my wife with it.
