I had to share: The Tax Poem

Some or all of this will touch a nerve. I initially thought it funny, but my laughter turned to tears and anger when I finished reading and realized that it was very clsoe to the truth:

The Tax Poem

> >>>> >>>>
Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.
> >>>> >>>>
Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.
> >>>> >>>>
Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!
> >>>> >>>>
Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.
Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.
> >>>> >>>>
Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.
> >>>> >>>>
Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.
> >>>> >>>>
Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ***.
> >>>> >>>>
Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.
> >>>> >>>>
When he screams and hollers;
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.
> >>>> >>>>
Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.
> >>>> >>>>
Put these words
Upon his tomb,
'Taxes drove me
to my doom...'
> >>>> >>>>
When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & our nation was one
of the most prosperous in the world.

We had absolutely no national debt, had a large middleclass, and
Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What in the hell happened? Can you spell 'politicians?'
And I still have to 'press 1' for English!?!?!?!?

I hope this goes around CANADA at least 100 times!!!!! YOU can help
it get there!!!!
GO AHEAD - - - be a CANADIAN !!!!!!!!!! SEND IT AROUND EVERYWHERE.

Ouch...thats sooooooo true. I guess it's just the world we live in now. You must admit tho........we were not as populated a 100 years ago either. I do think some of the taxes we pay are just DUMB but for the most part I guess they do serve some kind of purpose....hehehehehehehe

I still can't believe that we even have to pay postage to send the gov't our taxes. CanadaPost is Crown corp, so to add to the list, you're getting taxed on submitting your tax.

God damn it!

That's a lot of taxes, I never realized that...

Then again, I'm in a communist country now, less tax on living. But we get over 100% tax on cars!!! G35 sedan = over $110000 CAD here!! G37 coupe costs $125,000 CAD!

I hate to put a damper on your outrage, but as a crown corporation Canada Post pays sales taxes, payroll taxes and corporate income tax, and then pays millions in dividends to the federal government from it's after tax profit.
I don't think Canada Post likes paying taxes any more than you do.

LOL, good post Colin. I've seen that one before. It's certainly an eye opener when framed from the perspective of a century ago. Certainly we have a lot more things for our society like healthcare, roads etc but at an awful high price.
