need help with my coupe

hey sorry guys i know this topic has prob been posted many times. however i did use the search button but most of the topics were covered for US.

here's my problem. i recently purchased a 2004 g35 coupe 6mt and i'm due for an oil change. i went to alta infiniti to buy oil and filter and they told me not to put the mobile 1 sysc thats only for new engines. i have 114 kms on my coupe and i have no idea what the previous owner used, so what is a good oil you guys can recommend for me please .and is it really too late to switch to mobile 1? thanks in advance

As long as you try and drain as much oil out as possible and with the filter change, i think you should be fine. Synthetic should be able to be run for the life of the engine, it is just a different type of oil. For oil, any of the good synthetics sould be fine, mobil 1, castrol syntec etc. Other people might be able to chime in though aswell on the change from regular to syn.

I've been told that when switching oil bring in an extra quart to just run through the engine before actually putting the full amount in, to help get rid of any possible mixing of oils

i believe the thought on switching a high-mile engine to synth is that the seals may start to leak because of the different compounds.

Only for new engines? I would ask them why they say that.

No need to worry about ANY of that, just do a regular drain and change to synth and a good filter.

The fram filters are fine, you just need to get the tough guard not one of the other fram ones as it has a 99% multi pass efficiency i believe.

Have to disagree about Fram, I'd only use a Wix or Amsoil or Pure1(?).

Rarebreed: you asked for an oil recommendation; again Amsoil, German Castrol or Mobil1(?).

PM me for more info if you like.

I actually imported a dozen Mobil1 oil filters when I picked up some stuff in Ogdensburg. They look well built and most of the guys in the states recommend them. They were about 8 US each.
