Rim Advice

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if any of you could recommend where I could buy some OEM Hyper Silver 18" front rims for my 2004 G35 Coupe. I got my G a few weeks ago and am slowly improving it as the last owner didn't take great car of her. There is pretty bad curb rash on the front right and mildly bad on the front left. There's a company in my area (southeastern Ontario) that will send them away to be refinished for $185 per rim but the one rim has some 'bubbling' (or that's what it looks like) and I'm wondering if its better just to buy some new ones.

I've done some searching on the web but some of the private sellers say they've got a bit of curb rash as well and the new ones seem to go for around $300US per rim. Is this what I should be prepared to pay?

Thanks to everyone who has offered advice to this rookie on other matters as well.

Steve

I have curb rash on my stock rims as well from the previous owner. I'm looking at purchasing new non-OEM rims myself just can't afford them right now. Maybe next year. Someone on the boards may have a set of mint stock rims for sale in the classifieds.

Ya it is a good price but 'Habsfan' already has tires so its perfect for him rather than spending all that money on refinishing

Okay, thanks for the help so far. Its true I only need the rims and I emailed the guy on Kijiji that HossMaxima posted but got no response. I noticed that ad has had almost 900 visits, which I thought was a bit strange. The rims he is selling are graphite as opposed to Hyper Silver, which are what mine are. Is there a big difference?

Bondo and repair your curb rash then get them powder coated. Looks great too.

Come on save some money in this economic crisis!

If you are happy with the rims you have and you want to stay stock you can get them refinished at Carcone's Wheel Refinishing.

http://carconeswheelrefinishing.com

These guys will strip the rim right down to the bare aluminum and paint them as close to stock as you will get. Nissan has not released the colour codes for the G rims so the refinshers get it as close as possible. The HyperSilver process is expensive but they do a great job.
