Odd sighting...

So last night I took a strole thru the 403/dundas Tim's parking lot like I usually do when I'm bored or out for a cruise. But last night I saw the weirdest sighting. There was some kind of Chevrolet Cobalt meet.... I have never seen so many Cobalt SS's or modified Cobalts. The guys were all hardcore intense too, I had to circle the parking lot and take a second look because i couldn't believe my eyes the first time. (You can tell I just moved to the city). I guess I just see a group of civcs as normal but not cobalts??

yeah, there's still love for the GM I guess.

Cobalts arent bad looking, their "SS" with the supercharger only puts out 170hp (i believe), but I guess a few tweeks and there can be some contenders.

i think the 170hp is a bit low. my friend had either the first or second year model with a supercharger with the stg 2 gm kit. it worked real well. i think he did a low 14sec in the 1/4 mile. there a cheap "powerful" car. its a bang for your buck car.

The SS Cobolt puts out 205Hp to the crank and my friend has the stage two supercharger that puts out about 230Hp. Not a bad drive, I took it around the block once and it drives nice.

the cobalt community is huge in Toronto. When we had the c7 tour last year, they were one of the largest group, also mitsubishi evo, mazda, chyrsler neon club were pretty big.

my boss had a stage 2 kit in his cobalt... kept up for the first two gears but after that he was bye bye.
He had A LOT of problems with it though. Clutch was fuct. Went through 3-4 sets of brake rotors - every set warped. Best part was that he was best friends with the dealership's owner's son and he still got screwed. and there some something wrong with his strut - I'm guessing - on the front driver's side cuz it made some god awful sounds.

I have a friend with an SS stage 2, it seems to go pretty well, he always jokes with me that he'd smoke me but I don't know.
The thing that these kids don't get is yes they have quick cars and definitly like to show that, but if your a "Power only" type of guy than I guess the SS and the SRT4 is going to be the best bang for your buck.......but if you are a guy that appreciates a good all round and refined car inside and out (Like the G) than spending the extra cash is worth it.
I would NEVER!!!!!!! buy a freakin Colbalt or SRT4 Neon unless it was given to me (then I'd use it for a beater), there typical GM and Chrysler cheapness overpowers the HP in my eyes why do you think my Bro didn't buy the Saleen........Pathetic interior....loads of power but remember you have to sit in it and drive it, if these cars were operated by remote control it would be a whole different game.

I drove one of these just for the hell of it when I was in the market (I am off domestics forever but that doesn't change my opinion) and I hated it, it drove a little sketchy, wobbled at high rpms and the clutch felt clunky.

The odometer said 1,200km.....

And the day you do any mod to increase that HP any higher every part will have to be upgraded. Drivetrain's only good for 265hp. Motor mounts only good to 270hp.

Its like any domestic car, built by the lowest bidder.

yea but then again if you compare it to the new G37xS running 13.2sec 1/4mile its not "mop the floor" as ud think. they have such cheap tires with a 60foot of over 2 seconds its pathetic. the old one had 170hp dont listen to any one that says differently my friend from alberta was on the dyno before and after stage 2 and he had about 145whp before and 210whp after. the new one has 260 and still runs 14.3 1/4 mile pretty funny.

yeah you guys were right, the first ss models were 205hp, 200trq, now they're at 260 hp. not too bad. they went from a supercharger setup to a turbo.

At $25,500, it really isn't a bad buy, gotta say, especially for a lease.

Mind you though, any cobalt reminds me of a done up cavalier (which I personally find hillarious). Their brand just doesnt appeal to me, no matter how many turbos or superchargers they offer.

sorry i wasnt talking about a straight line, its a track beast. It was tuned on the nuremburg ring. Had the fastest compact (FF)record (production) on the ring.

btw no i dont own or plan to get one, but this car gets less respect than rodney dangerfield.

(A little off-topic, but..)

Last summer I was out with a couple of friends (non-car dudes) and one them noticed a "sick-looking" cobalt in the aprking lot- turns out it was a black GTR. It was at night, so I forgave him. The next day I did a quick google image search and sure enough the similarities are there.
