American Speedometer

Does anyone know if it's legal to drive with a MPH speedo in canada? It's pretty much reveresed MPH on the outter circle and KMPH on the inner circle.

My dad's work truck is MPH, no problems.

Plus I doubt if you get pulled over they are going to check your gauges haha

Yeah you're probably right. I had a vr6 corrado before and I drove it with no license plate at the front for about 3 months. I've read a few forum threads that people have been pulled over and ticketed on the day they drove with no front plate. Good luck i presume or maybe the officers just dont care.

haha crappytire seems to sell almost everything. i test drove it today and it was a little different having to estimate the speed as the KMph is in the inner circle. The clutch and shifting is going to take some getting use to also, other than that i hope everything works out according toplan.

sorry for bombarding you with questions but i'm just a little concerned about purchasing an american car that crossed the border. i am also wondering whether the MTO would have any sort of vehicle history prior to being imported and registered in canada? will the UVIP show this info? or is carfax the way to go.

I can answer most of your questions.
Speedometer. Displays both units so it is fine.

Warranty- Fully transferable, dont know about extended warranties.

Car history- For american history Carfax works great, autocheck is another choice, but I have always had good success with carfax. Carproof for canadian warranty only.

In terms of duty fees, brokerage and what not. If the car is already landed in Canada and has been registered for the past 9months (so the dealer said) that should mean all import fees should be paid off already correct?

Yes. The duty and gst would have been paid to the broker or the point of entry. It cannot be registered without the required inspections which cannot be performed without having all the proper paperwork completed and fees paid so it would be fine.
Should have a sticker on the doorframe from the RIV on the left door frame indicating this.
