New to forums, pls help
Hey Guys! I'm new to the forums. I bought a 2004 G35X OB with 101000kms on it about 6 months ago. Car runs great! Just having a small problem, probably nothing major. When I start up my car, I hear a vibrating noise coming from the front passenger side in the engine bay. I tried taking a look as to what it could be but no avail. The noise does not go away as the car warms up, nor does it when I accelerate, although I did notice that the sound of the vibration does speed up with the higher rpms. Had a friend take a look, he said it could be something with heat shield clamps? Anyone have any ideas?
I'll post a sound clip when I get a chance.

Anything that increases with the rev's is generally a moving part. I would suggest tightening the belts and tentioners. You can also goto princess auto and get yourself and auto stethoscope. LINKY
Use this to make sure it's not one of your main bearings...(unlikey)
I'd try that. and for 25bux, those stethoscope's are good **** for finding little noises.
My 2 cents
Oh and welcome to the boards! Please add yourself to the registry section in the sticky's!

i've seen this many times...it's probably your exhaust heat shields. if it's not the ones on the exhaust manifolds, check the ones under the car as well (over the cat, downpipe, etc).
Just tighten the bolts up of the heat shields and problem should be solved/.

first check under the hood, for access to the heatshields on the manifolds/downpipe, tighten those guys up.
for the bottom shields, yes getting it lifted would be ideal. You could also:
1. jack it up and go under (MAKE SURE to use additional jack stands for safety, i really mean that)
2. drive it up a set of ramps
3. or, I've seen a clever idea where one guy drove his car one side over his curb (going parallel with it). This should give you enough room underneath as well.
try the easier under the hood shields first, then worry about the bottom later. I've had a buddy with an altima pay $20 for the nissan tech to tighten all the shield/exhaust bolts up once it was on the hoist (while doing an oil change). this may be the easiest/safest approach for you.
