Battery Question...
Hey Everyone,
Have a quick question in regards to my car battery.
My car is a 2003 G35 coop 5AT, I never recall having this changed, but I could be wrong as I am pretty much a noob in regards to cars and have always been going to the dealership to get work done. Sad i know...
I just thought that 6 years seemed like a long time for a battery to last from what i have read on this forum.
I am thinking about getting a new battery as i will be adding a sub and amp to my car and have been told that my current battery is starting to go.
I dont know if i should just let infiniti replace the battery or go out and get one of those Interstate batteries and find someone to install it.
Any recommendations?
Thanks again!

i'm on my original battery. almost 5 1/2 years and it's going strong. i've had it tested recently and no issues came up. batteries are very simple to change yourself so i'll do it myself. i figure i'm going to ride it out until the first sign of weakness, then i'll replace it. we don't get cold winters here so that helps my cause a bit for cold cranking.
SPX, If I were you I would go get yourself a nice Dry cell batter with some decent CCA (cold cranking amps). Then just bring the battery to a meet with a small ratchet set and ask a fellow G member to help you change it. Simple! I'd do it if you were in calgary.
If the dealership will do it for free with the cost of the battery then why not... but no need to waste your money. Use it to contribute to the stereo system!!

I have had car batteries which have lasted 10+ years.
I think it all depends on how much of a strain you put on it. For example, if you play the stereo system a lot without the car running or leave your lights on (long delay shut-off), that's the sort of thing that can shorten the battery life.
You could DIY it's not hard but if your not comfortable let a mechanic or friend do it.

It's a little more difficult to change on our cars but certainly not too hard. If you've got heavy audio demands you may want to consider stronger than OE. There isn't much available in our group size.

If you want a good aftermarket battery, look into Odyssey...they are great daily batteries and the PC 1200 is what will get the job done. Stinger uses the same battery, both the Odyssey and Stinger are made by Hawker...they use em in the HumVee's I believe (the larger batts).
I've had some friends have issues with Optimas. Kinetik's are good as well, but are better for the vehicle being off and powering a system or having a load on.

The Odyssey is roughly 200. The Kinetik is about the same, maybe 180, however the most comparable one is the HC 1400 and the PC 1200 outperformed...I had both batteries in my previous car. The optima can be had for about 150.
Possibly...but you never know. Check out google and you might be able to find a good deal.
Found this super cheap deal, so with shipping it may not be all that much more for ya compared to other sites.
