omg 14500 for just insurance? damn.... its kinda hard to think by the time you retire... how much money you paid to those insurance ppl... 5000 x 40 = 200000. there goes a lambo or ferrari lol. of course, insurance is gonna be in the low 1000s by the time you get to 40-50. (with a clean record, that is.)

so in two years you would have paid around 28 grand in insurance and the is only worth like 26,000 so that makes it stupid for them to even charge that much, none is going to pay 50% of their cars value for insurance.

Exactly.

XuperXero, are you actually paying that much or is that just a quote?

Was that an online quote or did you actually call? Because I had crazy quote online but when i called they were more realistic.

I got my G at 21 with no previous insurance and 1 speeding ticket and my quotes were around the 4 grand mark... Lowest I got was 265/month.

But just like when I quoted a GSXR online it was $15,000/year but when I called it was more like 2100...

lol

I was actually paying that quote for a month before I found an insurance company that would insure me (Classified high risk driver).

1 major, 2 minor, and 1 partial fault accident.
my premium before that was $1800/yr, but insurance never found out about my driving record until the partial fault accident in parking lot then they did a little check and changed the policy to 14.5k a year.

Even after that, my premium became in the range of 6k a year and I decided it was still way too much and sold the Z.

^ now that's what i call "high-risk". in your case i understand the premium, but it sounds like some young 'uns are getting jobbed for driving high power, "high risk" vehicles.

although, nobody i knew growing up had a car worth more than $5k before they were 19. so part of the problem might be that people are buying too much car, too soon.

what would the insurance be on a mid-90's accord/altima/etc...? i know those aren't the sexiest cars, but everyone has to start somewhere.

but hey, if a guy can afford a G/Z at 18 that's great. just be prepared for the insurance.

I agree with that statement, although insurance for cheap cars is high too. My aunt is an underwriter manager, she said when it comes to younger people, basically same rate, except they factor in the amount of accidents/per car as well.

For example, my 04 G was less to insure than my 2000 malibu, because there were more accidents reported with the Chev.. its a really weird setup...
