Well I decided I'd take a chance and replace the last remaining component of the PVR setup since i really do want to maintain the large capacity. Got the Pce 758D cable box replaced by the retailer (as the Shaw tech first suggested) and now everything seems to work fine. Only difference in installation was when I called Shaw to activate the new box, the tech there took me through a full format of the hard drive. Not sure which made the difference, but it works now and I'm not going to question it!!

. How do you like it? i hate change so i wanted the old school PVR and box as one unit but we fill up the old PVR fast so this looks like a good route.

Has lots of capacity, but I find it's a little flakey at times...once in a while I record something and it just doesn't record. It's tolerable but sometimes it pisses me off. I joined a Cdn forum where they talk about this as a common problem. Took a fair bit of farting around to get it to work properly off the bat, as well. But if you're persistent you should get good results.
