Camber shims - FREE
Camber shims - FREE
I was looking through my garage on the weekend and came across the old camber shims I had from my spc camber kit.
Theres a bevel that im not sure the degree of on them, but I do know when I reversed the shim for the brake without thinking, I scraped the sh*t out of my disc :S Then I figured out what they were for.
I ran the front of my car 3 inchs off the ground, and with the camber kit/shims I was able to run a flat camber setup to save my toyos.
Included is a hub shim and a caliper shim for FRONT end. Maybe be useful for guys who run a lowered setup without a camber kit???
If someone wants they they can have them. If not Im going to throw them out. Wanted to see if someone would use them first.

Yes, that would help even more! I've lowered the front a little over an inch and the rear about one inch. The camber is much worse in the front than the rear on my car. Will they reduce the amount of front camber on my car? Should they only be used with the SPC front camber kit, or will they reduce the front camber all by themselves?

hmmmm....
I might be wrong, but I thought these were for gaining more neg camber.
I always though that camber shims were for track use.
If the A arm is still in the same position (no kit) at the top,
then the shims push the axle further out at the bottom, producing more neg camber.
...can they be used w/o the A arm kit?

Nice CAD drawing! lol! Seriously, it helps and I get the idea. If you can hold on to them for me while I confirm if it will help my situation, I'd really appreciate it.
I'll get back to you tonight.
Thanks...

Just noticed that that sketch is 'PLAN VIEW"
We may be thinking about the orientation the wrong way,
& that cad dwg may be a little misleading.
For these to work,
- one shim goes on the caliper to space it out to the rotor properly.
..for that to work the polar alignment of the shim face would have to be a perpendicular to the center line between the caliper mounting bolts.
The thick part of the shim would be near the caliper.

Either way, if someone thinks they are useful they can have them, if not Im just going to chuck them.
I asked Edward at THMotorsports.com. He said, "Jay those work only in conjunction with the camber kit. You can put them on, but it will cause more negative camber for you."
So, thanks anyway Shawn, but I'll have to pass.
