Confused about headlights

Hi!

I'm confused about the headlights on my '04 Coupe & more specifically what bulbs to use when I need replacements. In reading various threads I see horrendous prices for bulbs & installing them so I need some advice I can count on & that's why I'm writing.

My Owners Manual says my bulbs are Low: H1 (55W) & Hi/Fog: HB2 (60/55W). I'm assuming these are not Xenon bulbs & that I don't have or need Xenon lights. The above bulbs don't seem expensive on EBay. Am I fairly safe in ordering these bulbs?

Also, is there a place I can go/look to see how to replace these bulbs?

I'll very much appreciate your help & advice.

Thanks. Bill

All coupes came with H.I.D (high intensity discharge) bulbs, more commonly known as xenon bulbs. The bulbs you should be ordering for your low beams are D2R's. And yes, these bulbs are very expensive, and to get to the headlights, you would have to partially dismount the front bumper.

That is the only link i could find for getting at the headlights, but there should be other ones. Check it out, hope it helps

this is the best site to use for bulb replacement. According to sylvania not all 04's have HID's. some use halogen capsules.

http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...lacementGuide/

in which case the headlights are H1's and the highs are 9003's or HB2's

There are variations between coupe's and sedan's. All coupes I know came with HID's, where as I believe the Sedan's had it as an option. That may be the discrepancy that the Sylvania website doesn't highlight. That web-site is a great tool however, keep it bookmarked. Comes in handy every-so-often.

Correct me if I'm wrong though.
