$1000 to change pads and rotors???

Hello all. Friend of mine is going to replace his pads and rotors, he has OEM on for now. He said that shop estimated parts + labour just a little over $1000.00

Is it a normal price for parts + labour??? (Hawk pads and cross drilled & slotted Msport rotor)

I'm thinking of getting new pads as well.
Thinking of getting those Hawk pads. Do you think I need to get those cross drilled rotors for these pads? Or can I still ride on my OEM rotors???

Could you also comment on $1000.00 work, recommend any reliable shops???

Thanks guys.

if he's at the stealership i can believe $1k. but that's because they tend to hose people. if he goes to a reputable independent and/or buys his own parts the job will be much cheaper. $5-600.

Can you guys point out towards a reputable independent shop in Toronto and surroundings.

And again, what do you all think of having Hawks on OEM rotors??

Thanks

i just dont feel like spending 1k on something that doesnt feel to cost that much.

sash,

We need some more info about the cars, specifically the brakes that are currently on the vehicle.

Are they Brembo's?

I dont think so, the link posted was for both G35 and G35X non Brembos...

I can do a full brake job on a Brembo coupe in 40 minutes! What amazing brakes!!!!!

you could try looking into ordering your rotors and pads
from vendors in this forum then taking them to your local mechanic to be installed ..

my mechanic charged me 75 bucks to install .. pads n rotors all around
