Opinions on winter storage?

I just wanted to know your opinions on what i should do for the winter. I got room in the garage for my g at my moms house but i wont be able to start it or drive it too often but its FREE.

Or i can pay 60 a month and park it at my loft and be able to start and drive it around the underground parking lot weekly even when its snowing.

Im leaning towards paying but wouldnt mind storing it or free, Im just unsure about not starting or driving my car for a long period of time. What would you guys do?

Thanks for your inputs

A friend of mine stores his three cars every winter. A couple of maximas and a solara. All he does is hooks his battery up to a volatge regulator to keep it charged at 12.5V, over pressurizes his tires, and changes his oil from synthetic to regular oil and no problems. He doesn't start it up until the spring and doesn't drive it around. he said he has never had a problem.

Thats odd about the oil because i was told that once you go synthetic it is not a good idea to go back to regular oil, i can be wrong though. I dont want to leave it there for 5-6 months thats crazy! I didnt drive my car for a week once and my brakes felt like crap. Do you store your car?

unless you can get the car out on the highway to heat everything up really well, it does no good to start it and putt around every few weeks. it's actually doing more harm than good.

park it, store it, leave it.

the comment about dino oil is just for storage. basically it's just throw away oil that never sees service. you change the oil during your storage procedure, then change it again before firing up in the spring. there's no sense in using synthetic for that.

^Ditto on all of that.

Just put it in the safe place at your moms for nothing.

So if i just leave it there all I have to do is disconnect the battery? How much PSI should I inflate the tires to? I just got a oil change last week, I guess that was a waste.

Just inflate it to the max pressure and get a voltage source that you can hook up to your house outlet and to the car battery to maintain the voltage on the battery, you can get one at Canadian Tire.

Store it at your moms.

But even $60 a month is a great deal, here in Cambridge I'm looking at 100-225 a month

That's why I gotta try and keep it in the shop as long as possible lol

Honestly J as a few of the others said, if you don't take it for a long drive to heat everything up to get rid of condensation and moisture, it will be much harder on it. A drive around an underground garage is not enough.

I vote for storing it at your Moms.

Geez, I found a nice apartment building with 2 levels of underground parking where I stored mine for the last 2 years for $35/month. Safe, warm, clean and always accessible. Power for the charger and everything. It's in downtown Dartmouth not far from my place. My wife lived there when we met 23+ years ago! Even in downtown Halifax the most I ever paid was $65.

$225 a month in Cambridge ...do you get your car washed every few days and oil changes done for free? LOL

No, don't plug it in while it is stored.
That is for the engine block heater. Normally you would have it plugged in a few hours prior to driving it on extremely cold days.
