minor engine build :D my final try at this

well this week im sending my car not to a tuner shop but to a mechanic who i go to do everything thats not tuning related. as it turns out, my rings had gone in all 6 cylinders due to carbon build up because i ran the wrong injectors for way to long (3days). i went to infiniti a few times to check the code and it said running rich but they told me that my car was modified and that they didnt want to do anything with it cuz it was tempered with.... I HAD A STOCK CAR!!!!! i just had the wrong injectors when i turned from turbo to NA thats it... stock cats, air box, exhaust everything stock....

besides allll my bad luck and wrong decisions and horrid tuner/mechanics, im giving it my last try to have a turboed G35.

im ordering pistons/rings/rods/connecting rods/valves/springs/retainers. im leaving the crank stock, no cams ect. i have the head gasket already and ARP studs. meth cooling system hopefully helps. also for mid summer im getting a brand new tranny from Z1 6MT. new rims and suspension too.

all i want is 400whp without warring that im going to blow the engine again. wish me luck guys!

I doubt it was carbon deposits most likely the cylinders got washed out because the large injectors. They would inject too much fuel and it would wash the oil off the cylinder walls causing damadgeto the rings and possibly the cylinder walls. Infiniti would'nt have been able to do anything even if they wanted, the only solution would be proper injectors or a tune for the larger injectors.

Why new valves springs and retainers? Are the OEM ones damaged? If not there would be no advantage to changing them if your not doing cams. Also if your changing all of that stuff Cams are about $1500 I would get JWT S1 cams and use JWT springs while your at it!?!

Also I would recommend getting everything done at the same shop, the build and the tune if something goes wrong there is not finger pointing if it was all done at the same shop. If you get your engine built at one shop and tuned at another is the engine blows in 500km they WILL say each other is at fault and you will be on your own. I have seen it lots before, the best way to cover your self is to have all work start to finish done at the same shop.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

no damage to the wall thankfully! ur right about the valves i dont need them right now so im not getting them.

i am worried because he is not a tuner is hes a mechanic (one of the best ones iv seen, and iv seen alot of them lol). he will be able to do my engine work but anything tuning related he knows nothing about.

im determined to do this tho!! before i even got my G35 it was my plan to turbo it! my car should be ready beginning of April. hope to have a meet sometime around april-may.

well stage one is complete. i have a new engine in the car. it has 34,xxx miles on it. certified with 1 year warranty. now just working out the perks with the car. i need new cats/test pipes, new brake pads cuz my rotora pads are completely gone, a new intake system and its good to go. in a few weeks im sending my old engine to be rebuild and at the end of this year during the winter time im going to put a built engine with a new 6MT.

for now im going to run: Intake, kinetix upper plenum, pulleys, headers, cats/test pipes and either a B & B exhaust or borla. at the end im going to street tune it with the haltech stand alone ecu. im sure that will be ok still next summer

i drove the car for 2 weeks and it drove really smooth and no problems. this mechanic i went to this time is not a tuner he is just a mechanic and he works faster better and cheaper then the tuners i went to. he found the engine and did the labour for less then half of what the other guys were charging. i bought the engine on thursday, and it came on friday the next day! then he promised me he'll have the car done by next thursday nite but he finished on tuesday!! he kept the car for an extra day to make sure everything is working fine and the best part is he warraties his labour!! he would not undertake any work if he is unsure. he told me before had he would take a look at it then give me prices. then i went with what i thought was the best alternative.

now im waiting on the parts to come: Z1 intake, kinetix V plenum, kinetix cats and the rotora 6pot pads. the pulleys and headers are already on the car.

yea but i would lose at least 7k if i sell my G and buy another one. i got my engine with warranty for 1250$. install+engine and everything completed with 1 year warranty on engine and labor all together for just over 2k. with 34k miles on the engine. G35s with that millage go for 20K+. its much cheaper to do what i did. i know its hastle but id rather pay 2k for a new engine then lose 7k for trading in for a newer g35. plus i have a freshly rebuilt tranny. so i have a young engine and good tranny. i would lose money and get a more used product just by trading my car for a newer one.

used ones go for about 500$ but usually a new clutch 300$ is needed.

brand new they go for about 1600$ USD. flywheel and clutch its about 600$. labor about 500$ all together 2700$. not that pricy when u consider rims with tires are more then 2700$ for a good set you know. plus the fact that its brand new its a big bonus. iv gotten 4k quotes from my previous tuners lmao. if anyone wants to do a tranny swap they should do it with a regular mechanic its much cheaper and most of the times its much better because regular mechanics change trannys allll the time while alll thes "tuners" act the specialist role and charge up the a*s.

very easily. there is a silhouette where the hole needs to be opened. the stock frame is made for 6MT then the tapped the hole for the auto. all you need is a clutch pedal assembly with the pump ~ 100$ labor no more then 600$ thats 700$ plus the flywheel and clutch stage 2 street from Z1 for about 600-700$ we have 1300-1400$ total. add then 1600$ for the tranny it self then you have a brand NEW tranny with labor in for 3k.

if you want a used tranny then its about 500$ for the tranny. it would be under 2k total with labor for a newish tranny with about 50,xxx kms on it and still have an upgraded new clutch and flywheel that is newer and much cheaper then trading cars. plus you can sell you auto tranny for about 500$ if its in good condition so there you go its about 1500$- 3000$ depending on wat you want to do with it and how much effort you want to put in!

5k no way! my engine swap is going to good. no oil burning no knocking no unusual sound everything is running very very clean and smooth so far. and its not under 3k its for 2k lol i paid about 2100$.

all the specialist will say that its 3k labor and its a rip off. lets say they work for 100$ an hr, so they work for 30hrs!!!! not a chance! in the manual it says 11.8hrs for the engine swap so why would you pay more then 1200$? it doesnt even take 12hrs lol, the only reason you would go to a specialist is cuz they can do it faster becuase they do it more offten so why are charging more??

the mechanic im going to now i was very worried at the start because hes not specialized on our cars but i realize now that we dont really have a very uncommon car so there are a lot of ppl that have changed g35 engines especially the ones that burn oil. he also does regular maintenance, he did an awesome job with the sedan's wheel baring and alignment. plus you dont even have to worry since its warrantied labor!

the engine you kinda have to get lucky but just buy the warranty for it and you'll be fine.
