Fender Rust
Just curious if anyone else has had any issues with rust on the inner lining of their fenders. I have an 04 coupe which I drive year round however the amount of rust on the left rear fender seems a little excessive, the right rear fender has no signs of rust.

When we drive our rides year around on our roads with the salt and sand, the abrasiveness of this mixture has to be having an affect on our cars. This is right where your tires will throw this crap, so I think we have to expect a bit of that in our wheelwells.
Good ole salt air, eh Deane. I would imagine they also use their share of salt on some of those killer hills in Halifax during the winter.

I took the car to the dealership today, they took pics and sent it to head office to see if they will cover it under warranty.
all I can do is keep my fingers crossed.

i thought we have rust warranty for 7 year and 150 km or something like that...so should cover it, it's pretty obvious
but make sure u get that fixed asap, the same thing happened to my old 1992 mazda some years ago and it ended up turning into a fist sized hole

Agreed Deane! Salt air will turn a tiny rust spot into a rash. Best thing for those fenders is to sand them and get them ready for the paint shop.
+1 on sanding some of the rust off, then masking it off and then a coat of rust resistant spray paint(black) just to prevent it from spreading even more. It's the part where you can't see it anyways so a black color would do just fine.
Any thoughts of maybe having the fenders rolled while your at it? Kill two birds with one stone.

Yep. The salt air and the amount of salt for sure. The other big factor is the constant freeze thaw and plenty of moisture we have in the winter. The metal stays wet a lot of the time.
Rustproofing is the only way to go here, right from the start.

Luckily we don't have too much salt here. The City doesn't salt their roads but the region does salt theirs and so does Kitchener.
