Doesn't it suck when this happens......
When you spend money on your ride and the mod doesn't work out
I'm sure its happened to most of us. I'm gonna be taking off my headers soon so I'll have to pay the guy once again to take these off after paying him $200. to putt hem on so that's $400. + the cost of the headers $350.= $750. waisted on nothing, now I may be able to recover some if I sell the headers but definitly not all.
How much cash have you waisted on your ride?

If your upset about $500+/- you don't even want to know what I have wasted in stuff that didn't work out, I am not using or was NFG due to my fault or mistakes

edit ***it does hurt though and usually the first big mistake hurts the worst then you get desensatized****

Puts out way too much rasp, first I thought it was my test pipes so I bought HFC and same problem. I could change my stock muffler to aftermarket but what if the sound just gets worse so rather keep dumping money into it or just take em out, power gain is noticeable but not sure if its due to the HFC. Only thing that would make me keep them on is if I could try another muffler to see if it will resold the rasp problem but no one here has an axle back I can try out.

Compared to Gord, you havnt wasted **** all. Even compared to myself, between my Soarer and Skyline, thousands down the tube.
Research/other peoples first hand knowledge are the only thing you can really go off of for any new mod on a platform you have zero experience with. I dont know what your exhaust consists of, but theres always a solution. Needless to say, most peoples problem is that they are afraid to grab a wrench, so if something happens they dont like, things get blown way out of proportion seeing as they are paying someone else to dick around with their car.

Rasp has everything to do with flow - not noise. Improper tuning of flow, causes the exhaust to somewhat backup on itself - resulting in sound. Every exhaust rasps - by simple definition. Tuning an exhaust for sound - simply - tunes the rasp to an acceptable level.
Rasp, otherwise, happens when the exhaust pulses do not line up properly and the exhaust stream cools too quickly through the pipe. Cooling too quickly usually means the exhaust is too free flowing - wrong pipe diameter, etc.
The key is tuning for the pulses...you'll get better sound quality and performance. When you have a system that sounds great, then add testpipes, HFC's or headers - you disrupt the original design and possibly the components fo the system cannot handle the increased or changed flow characteristics.
The design principles of deflection and reflection, in exhaust manufacturing, are what sound tuning vs. performance is all about. X-pipes and H-pipes and y-pipes all have dramatic effect and are specifically used for pulse tuning.

that's somegood advice you put down huckersideways, thing is I brought it to an exhaust shop and they told me yes there is too much flow but I'm affraid to spend $400. + on an aftermarket muffler then have the same rasp. just don't feel like playing the guessing game at my expence.
That's also a good find there Ian, from what I got out of all that is I have too much flow and somehow need to tune it but wouldn't putting resonatores defeat the purpose of the increased flow? On my other post about the rasp one of the members told me to put a couple of resonators on the Y pipe to calm the flow down but it just doesn't make sense to do that because I'm now defeating the purpose of the mods.
haha i would wanna post something in response to this but id rather not! lol..... a few engines turbo kits trannys ect lol... and headers only help if you have that upper plenum. besides bolt ons dont really add anything but noise unless they are tuned even then not to expect more then 280whp on a manual, 270 on the auto, with cams and ecu of course.
