got scammed

I got riped off today, i feel soo fkin stupid, shoudl of done my research before hand. I was quoated $500 to move but got a $3000 bill.

Same story as this
http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/crim...stigates-mover

F#(*$($IP(

Worse thing is, this fkin guy lives somewhere close in my area only if i knew where he lives......

So we recently sold our house, and we called bunch of moving compaines, because my dad is in his 60s and me and him wouldnt be able to move alone. indo pak movers quoted us $500 in the morning at the rate of $40/hour. made me sign a contract and i didnt read the fine prints because he kept saying its $40/hour flat including everything. He took the deposit of $1000 and said what ever the difference is, we'll pay you back. by 4pm, he made the bill for $3000.
On a sunday afternoon, when banks are closed, atm limit is only $500 per day. What am i suppose to do?

i feel like i got scammed because everything was in that truck, and not only that. the movers left the stuff in the driveway of our new house and not even put it in the house. Im stuck now trying to figure out what to do. i cant lift it on my own. I even paid the fk $3000 but still did a halff fast job.

Soo pissed offff, beware of this company!

Holy shiznitts Manbir that really sucks .
Honestly if I lived closer I would come and help carry the stuff in. What about calling some of your friends in to get all that in the house.

Hope you can get back at those crooks.

Only if i knew....
problem is, we moved to kitchener, from toronto...and im trying to call few of my friends but i called the movers so i wouldnt need to call for help. I even paid $3000 whatever the bill was.

Wow! That does suck. I can tell you that I would gladly say "**** you, get the **** out the truck and i'll call someone else" $500 or not. Guarantee you that your bill would have changed.

Moving has to be one of the most stressfull and negative experiences in anyones life. Sorry for your bad experience, just look forward and spread the word about this moving company. Post ad's on Kijiji and Craigslist almost daily. Just copy an paste the same ad over and over. Most people use Kijiji and Craigslist as their first source for services these days.

Wow sorry to hear about this, thanks for letting us know, I was planning on hiring some flat rate craiglists guys to help me, I'll be extra careful of signing anything and will be asking for specific details...

I can't believe these guys would be willing to take the risks of doing this especially to their own community

That's brutal, sorry to hear. I might be in the area Thursday night, if you still need some help then, just send me a PM.

After reading the article, he sounds like a scumbag. If you apparently do 120 jobs a month, I'd think that you should be able to come up with a more accurate quote by now. Have you looked into legal action? I'm not a law person or anything so I don't know if this is applicable but:

Dude... Why would you pay a $1000 deposit if you were quoted $500?

If it was me, I'd pay them a $500 deposit, and if they didn't warn me of any over-charges I'd tell them to show their "fine print" to the judge when they see me in small-claims court.

Judges don't look kindly on this kind of business practice.

Pay a lawyer $100 to write them a nasty letter and keep their "bill" on file.

Wow, these guys have a lot of *****. It it were me, I'd make sure I got my $3000 worth in 'advertising' for this company. Judging by the article, they are clearly scammers, so add your name to the list of complainants and follow through to make sure they get their comeuppance.
