My Bro has a major oil burning issue!!

Yes another one of us has fallen victom to the oil burning issue. My Bro has almost run dry twice now on his 06' Coupe and is fed up so he wants something done about it. What are the proper steps he needs to take to get anywhere with Infiniti?
He has test pipes and a Y pipe on the car but no engine mods unless you count a CAI, should he take anything off before going to Infiniti? I'm guessing this is not going to be an easy battle but he mentioned if he doesn't get a new motor or at least the one he has fixed than he's selling the car.

I would take everything off before taking it to the dealer.

Don't give them any excuse.
They normally do a monitored consumption test to verify.
It takes a while but should be pretty straight forward.

Im was having the same issue...seems to be common for spark plug cylinders 3 and 6 (two rears) to have oil leak into them. The issue with this is that the cylinder seals on the valve cover are not sold separately. So when the seals go (which is what causes the leak), you need to purchase a new valve cover as a whole. Each cover is almost 400 bucks!! Good luck, if you are still under warranty go for the Oil Consumption Test.

Agree with this. Stock only.

Consumption test. Document everything.

G/L to him.

I just got a new engine put in by willowdale Infiniti for free about a month ago. I was suprised by how easy it was.. All I did was walk in and spoke to the service manager about my car burning a liter every 1000k. After that they took my information and started doing a consumption test. By the way my car has an aftermarket catback and a CAI and my powertrain wanraty ended December last year.

When measuring the amount of oil left in the engine if you do your own oil changes...be sure to wait a couple of hours after driving as the VQ engines hold alot of oil and it takes some time for it to get back to the oil pan. You might even notice a half quart difference.
