Lowered 07 G35X and a new smile

Well my X is now lowered on the 370Z front springs and shaved rear upper seat. It is pretty well level now. It is less than an 1/8" higher in the rear but I just swapped the mounting seats today and my gas tank is at 1/4.

Overall I am really happy with the overall look and wouldn't want to be any lower due to the ground clearance of the front diff.
The car feels a lot better in the turns producing much less body roll than before. I can feels the bumps in the road a little more but nothing uncomfortable and it is to be expected anyway.

I have to say it was a pleasant experience changing the rears compared to the fronts. I did the rears in about 30 minutes. The fronts took a while. One of the spring compressors I loaned from C.T. had some tight threads and was difficult, to say the least, to turn under compression. I built up my pythons a bit so it is all good.

A big thanks to my neighbour Stephan for all his help on the fronts.

Here are a few pics.

Defn looks better than the stock x height. So you still have the stock rear springs on?

Yes, with shaved mounts. The car now sits 27-3/8" from ground up to center of wheel well all around (1/4 tank gas). Before lowering, the fronts where 28-1/4" and the rear was 27-7/8" (with a full tank)

Front left fender measured after lowered on 370Z front springs

Looks Splendid, like the grill too. I see you went with the chrome accent.

Looks good Paul, didn't know you had planned on lowering it.

You know what lowering it means though....

Haha...I have to drive mine in winter too Blane. As it is, the front diff. is only about 3" off the ground. Thats low enough for me...for a while.

The diff does sit pretty low on the second gen Xs, it was something to do with the cross member not having clearance around it.

Looks great Paul. Nice job. I didn't lower my X when i had it but know it would have looked much better. The car previous and the one now are both lowered and I love the look, and the perceived improvement in handling.

Good job...

so you're using the stock X spring in the back with the shaved mounts?
(I thought you had to use a RWD rear spring like from an S model)

may I also suggest you grab a front lip (OEM nismo), the difference it makes to the overall look is truly amazing.
