Winter Tires :(
Winter Tires :(
I will be driving my coupe throughout the winter unfortunately. I was quoted by Tires23:
245/45/18 winter tires:
Hankook W409: $890/set
Michelin X-Ice2: $1150/set
Nankang SV1: $690/set
Taxes in, mounted & balanced. Including Ontario Tire Stewardship Fees.
Is this a decent price?
I will be using my stock 18s that were scuffed up by the previous owner.
Any other suggestions for a good winter setup that wont cost a fortune?
A friend bought his winters in the states and claimed to have paid 500 for exact same setup!!!

My set up shipped to your door with lugs would be less than any of those options i think - 2 tires would need replaced after a season - but you could possibly run those up front this year and swap them out with some new rubber next year...
Tirerack price shipped to S. Ontario:
245/45R18 XL Michelin X-Ice Xi2: $1110/set - BUT not mounted & balanced so Tires23 deal looks pretty competitive.
FWIW - I went to Bast tire here in Waterloo recently for our Odyssey. I told him I got some online shopping prices from Tirerack and he beat them handsdown. His price was $5 per tire less plus I saved $220 in shipping, duty and brokerage fees.
It just goes to show you that our Canadian tire guys CAN be competitive...if they choose too.
