West End Nissan - Edmonton

I felt I had to write a quick note here. I previously recommended this dealership (Edmonton) for non-warranty work. I now retract this. Took the car in for brake work, and they lied to me about price. Final bill was $500 more than they verbally quoted me when I accepted the work. Partly my fault for not getting quote in writing before accepting. They all played dumb when I began complaining once I had returned to pay the bill. Mechanic was standing right beside me when given the quote, but literally ran out of the dealership when he heard me ask for him at time of payment. I have received no response from the service manager (Carl Woytowich) following numerous attempts to contact him over a one week period.

This is very unfortunate as I had trust in this dealership from previous work. In my opinion, they are not to be trusted....I recommend you take your car elsewhere.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately this is the way of the dealer. I got out of the automotive service industry for exactly that reason. Too many people don't know what they're doing. Thus misquoting, misinforming and misinterpreting.

Last month I took my truck into Nissan to make an apt for a timing chain recall. Asked if the oil needed to be drained as I was doing a service that same day. 'Was told no. Two days later I get a call from them asking "did you put coolant in your oil?" I say "no, its Motul 300V, its florescent green." They say haha thanks.

My girlfriend picks up the truck and they charged her $140 for 5 liters of 300v. I still havent received a call back from the service or parts manager.

I planned to run 300V in my car so I have done a fair bit research on it and found it was never intended for daily driving due to the lack of detergents. It was designed for racing where you change the oil very frequently. Just something to think about I know it made me change my mind about using it in my car. I use the X-ess but they recently changed the names on the majority of their line up so I have to go back and figure out which one I wanted to use again.

I've had similar conversations with both my distributor Rep. and an actual Motul Rep - two very different conversations...

(All this based on info given to me from a Motul Canada Rep) 300v in particular isn't tested in the same tests as most SAE tests (ACEA i beieve its called) as it is a "Race" oil so they just don't see the need. I don't know of anywhere (not an expert though) where detergent qtys and levels are released to the public in any given lubricant. Here is a spec sheet for 5w30 300v: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/pdfs/MOTUL...-8255-(GB).pdf

Make of it what you will, most is far to complex for me to be bothered with. I just know what the Motul rep of 14 years with the company told me, and he could sell me any line of Motul products.

It is however, recommended by Ducati and MV Agusta as the original equipment lubricant for 6000km intervals. These are engine whose avg rpm is at least double that of a typical road car. If you do want to try some, let me know. I stand by Gear 300 too. It completely transformed my bagged out Subaru tranny.

I had several conversations with the Motul rep when I pressured him he said he wouldn't use it in his own DD and admitted it was low on detergents due to it being a race oil. I have friends that run it in their DDs personally I won't

300 gear is too slippery for our 6mts the syncros wouldn't spin up fast enough and I had some grinding issues when I switched to the Motul 75-90 the grind went away. I use 300gear in my rear diff though.

Very interesting... I have Gear 300 in there now. I find it very much improved over the unknown that was in there, however it does have a small amount of "notch" when cold. I'm really easy on my car when its cold though, and the notchiness is gone by the time im out of my neighborhood. Otherwise, i find it shift very smooth and consistent for my usage.

I'm coming close to a tranny and final drive change. I may try the 75-90.

Good to know. I'm excited to see an improvement now in the tranny.

When you say you have te gear LSD, is it not the original. I was under the impression that stock was a viscous unit. I'm not sure why I think that though. ..

Op, sorry for the off topic. I'm just realizing it now.

what was the topic.... anyway ya I have an aftermarket quafie LSD with 3.3 gears. The stock is a sealed viscous unit so you don't need a slip additive just the 300gear works fine with the OEM unit.

Makes sense... I guess with 600lb/ft you don't need 4.08 gears to accelerate.

The 3.3 make the traction a little more manageable the 305mm Nitto Inovs are a huge help as well they are much better than I even hoped for.
