Spam on the garmin!!!!!
This is a new one on me, but anyone else see this on their navi. Mine is a 1490T and now after a few months of having it I see ads for "Olive Garden Special $8.99... Download coupon." which I'm assuming one must log into Garmin to do.
God knows what's next.....: XXX dvd's to your home in a plain brown wrapper.
I know, I know.......it's in the menu that there's ads to download. I should have known
How do I get rid of this crap? It's interfering with with my navigating
LOL, I'm tempted to drop kick it but that would mean a $300 hit.
Any other suggestions?
Unbelieveable that nothing is safe anymore ---
Colin.
btw, is this crap coming thru on all navis (OEM too). I'll have to look at the Lexus next time I'm out.
Happy Thanksgiving folks.
I know I'm very grateful for all my blessings.

Here's the fix. (sort of)
Apparently it's related to live traffic usage.
If you like live traffic then you're stuck with it.
Personally. live traffic isn't something I use/need anyway.

In fairness to Garmin, I did get a reply to my email in which a Garmin rep said I could go into the SETTINGS menu and disable the data/traffic features which would then cease the pop-up ads. While I appreciate the response from Garmin, if I disable the features of the 1690, why spend the $500 when a lesser featured GPS unit will do the same thing for $300 less?
Garmin is still wrong on this one.

Wow, Colin, I have never had that on mine and I have thousands of kms logged on my new one.
I still say my 1490T is the best Navi I have used. Did you hit a button to allow this or something. Mine is unbelievably awesome compared to my old one or any of my OEM Infiniti ones. (LOL , must be why you got yours so much cheaper than mine, your advertising covered the difference)

I haven't activated the traffic feature on mine so no need to turn it on in the navi. I'll have to check tomorrow.
I sure hope I can get rid of them.
If not Costco or Garmin can have it back.
Amen to that. That's a poxy thing to lumber someone with on their navi.
Thanks for the warning Ian. If I can't disable it, I'll email Garmin with a "disgusted from Cambridge".
I find it just a little rude and impertinent.
