Check with 4DGS (Blain) on this section, I think he was rolling fenders or he knows who does.

All you need is a box cutter and a ball peen hammer. Fender rollers are only really necessary when you want a pull done.

^ I don't agree.
I've done the old school bat thing before & would do that before I got out the bp hammer.

If you want to preserve the paint and have a smooth OE look, a roller is the best (only) way.

And $50 for 'a few days' is well worth it; I've done the PVC tube method and while it works okay, I'd prefer a roller. Don't forget to buy, borrow or steal a heat gun.

^ yes, heat will help the paint stretch and keep it from cracking.
Just don't go nuts and scorch it.

Hammering is the best way to get an even roll. Period.

It takes a lot of time, and a couple very sore arms. But the end result is far more precise than any roller could ever hope to accomplish. When the hammer roll is done, then use a mechanical roller to realize what fender pull you want.

When rolling from factory to flat with a fender roller, the body of the car can sustain damage far greater than would a small double sided ball peen hammer from unexperienced hands.
