Angry Maintenance quote!? help.

so i went to the dealership today to get my oil change, and turns out i need to replace:

all 4 brake pads, rear rotors, transmission flush, brake fluid flush and power steering flush for:

$800 dollars in parts and with labour it will be around $1000...
they had the price at 1200-1300 dollars at first but i brought it down to 1000.

should it really be costing this much to do this?

where can i get some good break pads that will last long and be cheaper :S ?

please help!

where are you located? if GTA, try the kijiji guy, you will probably save half of the money for original parts, too lazy to find out the thread but search for GTA parts or kijiji guy in the forum, or check kijii for original parts, his add is always there. i think his e-mail was something like rogers.com.

hope it helps little bit.

or part source is ur second bet but noone beats the kijiji guy

There is a TSB for the front brakes on the 2007 sedan. They will replace pads and either machine or replace rotors and put on some sort of brake 'splash guard' if you are still under warranty - had mine done last month, had to bring the TSB to their attention. What is your mileage?

I have him on my phone as "Dave The Parts Guy" - 416.858.2095. nice guy and only deals oem infiniti parts.

buy the parts from him and have it done somewhere else (Simone, APH, Speedstar) - or ask Dave if he knows a dealership that has the best price for you.

+1 yeap thats the guy, everything is oem with nissan packaging, he even stopped me buying parts from part source. just like the previous post, i get the parts from him and then go Simones for instalment, this is the cheapest way to get a dealer type treatment. try to buy couple of more things from him, he usually does discounts, when u buy a lot of parts.

I tried getting my front brake pads done using that TSB and they wouldn't do it for me at the Oakville Nissan dealership. I have a U.S vehicle that I imported, but the warranty is still valid - yet they refused to do the work. I currently have approximately 48,000km's. What dealership did you go to? and do you think they'd cover it for me under the TSB?

I'm also looking to get the 48,000KM service done... not sure where to go to get the best bang for my buck.

Thanks
