Winter Tire Time ?

Well, I looked at the long range forecast for my area and it is going to stay below 10C for the next few weeks, and dip below 0C some evenings. When the weather starts to run consistently below that 10C temp is the signal for me to change.
I don't have a garage so everything is done outdoors, so weather does play a role for my open air maintenance.

Therefore, time to change out. I picked up some as new 09/10 alloy GMC Dealer take-offs for my 08 GMC Crew Cab. They included OEM TPS and new winter tires for $1239 +tax. I thought that was not too bad. I also have my Blizzaks on my OEM FX rims for the FX.

Of course I gave all my winter rims 2 coats of Poorboys Wheel Sealant inside and out for protection and the tires a good coat of Zaino tire dressing.

I put one winter on the FX and thought heck I like pics so I snapped a couple of pics.

Looking good Wayne. I love the way you treat and protect everything at changeover time.

Around here I wait until late November to change over.

We're all set with nearly new Toyo Garits for the Mazda and a nearly new set of Blizzak WS60 for the Altima, both on steelies with covers. The Z4M is still looking for a winter home but the Yokohama AD008 she's shod with will have to do in storage.

Trying to decide on completing mods now or wait till spring. Still searching for suitable winter home for her.

Here's one for you guys.

I've got a set of basically brand new Blizzaks that are essentially 18" OEM tire size (except both front and rears are 245) on a nice set of rims (purchased installed and balanced for 2300 smackers) just sitting in my garage back in Calgary collecting dust.

Meanwhile there are a few of you in the immediate area who are looking at spending about 800-2000 bucks on a new set of tires so that you get some use out of your car over the winter.

Anyone ever "lease" or "rent" their rubber out? I don't think I'd ever get the money I put in back through selling them... and no, I don't plan on recouping 2300 bucks... but 200 bucks for a season? I don't know- I'm thinking about it. Someone might as well get some use out of them?

Thoughts?

^ Yup. Great deal. On the flip side, at 200/winter you could expect 3 maybe 4 seasons out of them. So why not sell them for 800 and save the wear on those rims of yours.
Great pics of your rim collection Wayne. I'm sittin with 3 sets of rims with tires, and a spare set of tires (used) for my 18's that I coldn't refuse.
I put my winters on last weekend. Last season I was caught at work after a slight dusting. Didn't enjoy the ride home.

At least no snow gathered on top of your table, Shane! ** runs away **

Eno, that's a smokin' deal for locals, Huckerjon Legion, are you listening??

We're looking at teens through Thursday, so the Rays stay ON for at least a few more days!

Although I have my snows on my car, I'm hoping the snow stays away until I cut the grass one more time, then I can winterize my lawnmower and tuck it away.
I started applying wheel sealant to my summer rims last night before I pack them away.
