Is the 7at a dual clutch system? If so, i'd go that route for sure. I like my 6mt, but the dual clutch trans. i've experienced are pretty awesome. Seems silly to kill rwd for a sport bias transmission though.

Yea, It's a dual clutch setup similar to the GTR. I had a loaner G37x and didn't like it at all compared to my brother in laws G37S. The Ride is too soft it also feels a lot heavier, kind of like the feeling I get when driving Dads 300c (It just doesn't feel as connected to the road).

It's definitely not a dual clutch tranny.
It's a 7spd auto with paddles

Just checked, it's a Canada only thing.
The only RWD with AT is the G25
I'm sure their marketing arm has this all figured out, but also based on what I see on the road, seems the vast majority of new G buyers in Canada opt for AWD/AT (I know my choice would be G37XS w/7AT) with only a small % of 'purists' going for RWD/MT and hardly anyone ordering RWD/AT. If, as I suspect, there's greater margin to be had in the AWD, salespeople will be incented to talk potential RWD/AT buyers into AWD, 7AT (hey, it's just as sporty!) or both.

Not sure how to explain the G25 RWD/AT, maybe that's the starter model.

I'd really like to go with an AWD model in the G family, but just can't bring myself to drive an automatic...

I've had a manual almost exclusively since I was old enough to drive - the one time I compromised, I could NOT get out of it and back to a stick fast enough.

Thanks for correcting me, I was under the impression the 7 spd would be faster than 6mt because it was a dual clutch setup and they got rid of the torque converter. I guess you learn something new everyday. So how is the 7spd faster than 6mt, is it geared aggressively?

Modern auto trannies are much improved in the last few years.
Also, for a 6MT to be really quick, it takes a good driver; not so with the auto box.

I've driven MT's from 3 to 13+ speeds (and even a GM truck with two MT's) and while I love to bang those gears, I'm not the only driver of my car. I'd even put up with MT commuting if I...er...had a job.

Also when I bought the G, anything newer than 03 was beyond my budget so AT was the only choice. But I once drove a 37 with 7AT and paddles and that was a lot of fun. Closest you can get to the best of both worlds, IMO, *and* you don't have to replace clutches!

Paddle shifting's for pvssies - if you can't find 'em, grind 'em...

I've driven the G37 sedan w/7AT and paddles... *snore*

Fair enough argument, though - I don't share, and I haven't had to replace a clutch yet. I only need the best of one world - mine...

SOMEbody's even feistier than usual today.

I, for one, wouldn't mind taking a spin in the car of one of those paddle-shifting pvssies who drive Formula One.

So all f1 drivers are pvssies?
Some of us here as mentioned above share our cars with our better halves.
And don't have the patience to teach em how to drive a manual.(Specially not with my kids riding on the back seat!)
To each his own, i guess...
